During the Vietnam War, Hoi An and the surrounding area was a heavily contested where refugees were displaced and relocated. The US military constructed a large base camp near Hoi An for its personnel, and local authorities managed the movement of displaced villagers into temporary settlements near the city, with support from US civilian and military advisors.

The Hoi An Base Camp was a major logistical hub during the war. The base was located just north of the city and 22 km southeast of Danang. The base complex comprised over 1300 structures and was capable of accommodating over 8000 men. The Hoi An Base Camp (built in 1968) was the largest U.S. Navy SeeBee construction project during the war.

A Patton tank would finish that scene off Mike!

WW1 make way for Vietnam. The Vietnam series crept up on me and I ended up with more pieces than I imagined.
