Murat (1 Viewer)

I carefully adjusted the shabraque and fig, all held by sticky putty. There is a bit of gap between the fig and the pommel. Hence, the pommel will be further cut up to reshape it.

A tail was added to provide further support to this piece.

Sculpting the right hand.

Taking my time on this new phase of my work. No point in rushing things as I try to develop my skills further.

As the mtd figure has an unusual pose, it will not fit nicely into the proposed Historex saddle. This saddle also does not interlock correctly with many of the converted horse poses. Its shapde causing it to "float above the horse's spine.

To solve this, I cut up the saddle into front and back. I fixed both parts of the saddle to the horse, conforming to the horse's pose as well as the rider's pose. Thus, all the gaps as puttied in and the rider is covered with water and gently pressed into the saddle. This way, the rider can be removed gently for separate painting.

I added back the colpack and resculpted the hair. This Murat now seems to in proportion to its horse.

I'll say it again Victor, you are relentless.

Hello GFB,

I enjoy rescuing and converting figs. Working off my penance for buying all these figures in the first place. hahaha.

Mtd figures are especially challenging. The interaction between man and beast plus all the necessary accoutrements are really tricky.

Here is the latest update. Really changed the proportions of the horse. I never realised how different the various Historex parts are to each other. After juxtapositioning my pose, all the parts have to be carefully resculpted to be in proportion.

I've also resculpted the horse mane. This is Murat as General of the light cavalry. Ive sculpted in some of the lacing embroidery. The right hand has been removed and will be replaced with another hand holding the correct sabre.

I added a small pin to the hand and inserted it into the hollowed out arm. Had a choice of turning the sabre up or down. I decided on a slightly down pose.

Will start ptg as some parts will be added after the basic ptg.

Some uniform details for the Nap fiends out there. This hussar uniform is very similar for all three versions worn by Murat. This is the earliest version. As General of light cavalry, there is no pouch and belt. He wears a tricolour sash. His white plume should be flanked by only two shorter plumes, red and blue at the base but I decided to use 3 plumes as it looks prettier... Go figure that out. Hahahaha.
