Trying to revive this project. I was watching Youtube documentaries and again, the Mayans popped up. So I took out the piece and repaired some bits.

I've been meaning to do this figure for ever but the ref was elusive.. I've finally located a reference for this in an old Blandford book on the Imperial Russian Army. It is going to be a conversion of an Artmi figure, not quite as good as Historex Airfix. I'm just using him for nostalgia.

Heres the ref for this fig. Towards the end around 1870, there is a pic of a Frenchman who seems to have substituted for the African man.

Hi All, In the spirit of sustainable modelling, I am using bits and pieces scoured from my spares for this. The torso was soaked in dettol overnight to remove an old layer of oil paint gunk. So Ive rescued it for the mameluke jacket. Rgds Victor

The correct name is Minamoto Yoshitsune. I found the exact illustration upon which this figure was based upon in an Osprey samurai book. The figure is holding a bow. Anyway, the EK figure is holding a sword which is thick and rather ugly. I found a spare bow (ex-de Tara Miniatures) and decided...

Ive painted and allowed the basic logos to dry out. Then decided to shorten the left hand and redo the face and ears which are rather undefined.
