    Advancing Matilda

A British Matilda II tank accompanied by some charging infantry overrun a German position somewhere in North Africa, circa 1941. The tank and figures are obviously all Thomas Gunn products. The palm trees, crates, and fuel barrels are from Last Post Miniatures while the base is a modified...

That DAK Panzer III certainly blends well with your natural backdrop 😎

    FEBRUARY 2025 FIGURE NEWS

I found another picture Wayne posted on Facebook (and which is also in the original email sent out by Thomas Gunn). The sitting figure is the SS061B figure as one can barely make out the bomb it’s sitting on in the picture, just to the right of the box the bratwurst lady is sitting on. Rob, you...

    FEBRUARY 2025 FIGURE NEWS

Nice observation, Rob! At first glance, that seated figure between the two women looks like the old SS061B figure, of which I’ve got several in my collection: However, in the TGM pic, I don’t see the bomb and the base looks different with the containers in front of the figure…

    Afrikakorps Airfield

Awesome display, Rob! The TGM desert and the hard standing display mats blend together quite well in your diorama!

    Somewhere in Russia.....

Mark, I’ll have to look into finding some sage wood (or something similar) for use for winter trees myself. I’ve used broken twigs for “war torn” trees in some of my dioramas. But the sage wood looks perfect in your scene!

    Grounded

Great scene, Rob! And I like the 21st century Toys 32x FW-190A in the background… Definitely one of their best 1/32 aircraft models.

    Somewhere in Russia.....

Mark, I just saw this and your Erich Hartmann diorama is spectacular!! I love your snow effect and the real wood hard standing for the BF-109. The guard shack and RSO vehicle greatly add to the scene… You put a lot of work into making a very beautiful display 😎

    Revisiting the Jagdpanzer IV

Thanks Andanna! The crew figures came with the War Park Winter Nashorn vehicle, which is long retired… War Park does have some new winter tankers that fit well in the FL Jagdpanzer IV that are still available.

    Revisiting the Jagdpanzer IV

Thanks Robin, that’s what I was thinking! I was trying to go for a slushy effect with the snow melting. It’s basically filtered potting soil with snow powder mixed in.

    Revisiting the Jagdpanzer IV

While I wait for a replacement for my FL Hetzer, I decided to revisit my display with their Jagdpanzer IV L/48 model, moving it to a compact vignette display from the larger display it’s been in for nearly a year… I had my FL Panzer IVH on this same base for a while, in case it seems familiar...

    Hetzers sold out

Mike, I was thinking that may have been the WB Saxon cottage… It works very well for a Russian peasant hut! And your Hetzer is an amazing model. Great to see one looking like it should, both as an intact model and in a beautiful setting. I can’t wait to get a replacement for mine…

    Hetzers sold out

Mike, what fantastic pics of your Hetzer and I’m glad you got a great example, even if your shipping box was banged up a bit. The model looks fantastic displayed as you have it! BTW, Who made the thatched building in the background?

    Hetzers sold out

Fantastic to hear, Mike! I’m jealous, lol, and it will be a few weeks before I hopefully have a replacement. I’ve never had such level of QC issues with an FL product before, but as Stug’s post shows, the damage to my vehicle wasn’t an isolated event, so hopefully other collectors don’t have...

    The Arado E.555 Amerikabomber

Space is getting to be an issue for me as well, in part as I’ve filled my little house up with various collections over the years. I’ve got the E.555 set up as coffee table table display (pic below) though for the pics posted previously, I cleared off the desk on which I often take my other...

H&A Road and sidewalk section, any chance this might be released again ?

There is a 12x12 road/sidewalk section made by War Park that’s pretty nice and might work for you in a pinch, Mike. It doesn’t look as good as that H&A piece, but is still a good display base.

    Hetzers sold out

Yeah, the tracks felt like plastic instead of the rubber they’ve traditionally used. Also, you can see in my pics there was no piece of foam placed under the vehicle better tracks for additional support and cushioning… What you see in my pic of the box is what was there. Like sfarrelly...

    Hetzers sold out

I guess what I find interesting is that I’ve ordered some 17 FL vehicles and tanks over the last 6 years and this is the first time I’ve ever had this kind of quality control defect. That another collector (Stug) also has the exact same issue seems to indicate the issue could be more widespread…...
