    Pursuivant of Brandenburg

While watching Ivanhoe (yet again), I was inspired by all the pageantry. Rummaging thru my hoard, I decided to resculpt a decent tabard for him, I ripped him apart and am now working on it as well.

    Project MR

I made up one large shadow box. Then placed the base within and affixed one mtd fig. It took several drilling attempts to locate the hole.. Got my fingers covered with oils but it was worth it....hahaha.

    Project MR

Hi Louis, I hope so. Still on the job. Stained and varnished my 4 shadowboxes. A most unedifying task. I repainted the horses and finished the enlarged base. This looks more promising.

    Faces

Hi John, No. I plan to do a Qing court scene to feature some colourful gowns of the period. Initially it was going to be a diorama but I think I will try to do a shadowbox here. Rgds Victor

Hi John, I hope so. I'll have to sculpt the figure a bit more as he is rather bland for now. Rgds Victor

    Project MR

Final detailing on the horses before another round of ptg. Besides scrapping off the errors, Ive resculpted the position of the nose bands, added some more musculature and also flared the nostrils and opened the mouth of one of the horses.

    ACW shadowbox diorama

I usually mix a small batch of putty and the leftover putty are added on some figs. Hence the random nature oi the sculpting here. The putty does set off quite fast so I have to sculpt fast and in stages.

    mongol drummer

Hi All, Came across this old and forgotten piece. An early failed conversion of a Heller camel into a bactrian camel with a drummer and two naqareh drums. I think the rider is perched too high and we'll see what happens.

    Faces

While rummaging thru the hoard, I came across these figs. I had left them in this state waiting to be converted into Qing dynasty figs. All the faces and heads fully sculpted. Think I'll give it another go and see what happens.

    Project MR

Hi Wolfgang, Tx for yr kind comments. Here is the penultimate work on the first two horses. More sculpted details - notice the shortened right arm and different hand. All ptd in oils. Decided that I need a bigger box for this scene. So I enlarged the base with more chicken wire and then...

    Project MR

Hi Louis, I guess I am making slow progress. Juggling 3-4 dioramas is not easy but it does retain my focus. I took some time to read about neck collars from Major Tylden's book and another horse carriage book. I think I understand the basics of draught horse harnessing sufficient enough to...
