The American Revolution by Ken Burns

You could also point out that Indians, notably the Cherokee, owned slaves.

The American Revolution by Ken Burns

Atkinson's books on the ARW are outstanding. It takes him about 3-4 yrs to research each volume as he told me. So going to be a while before the last book is out.

The American Revolution by Ken Burns

The campaign against the Indians, or Native Americans if you prefer, was in retaliation for attacks committed against settlers such as the Cherry Valley Massacre.

The American Revolution by Ken Burns

Recently finished watching what I consider a "companion" series, Apple TV "Franklin." While a dramatic series, not documentary as Burns' is, found it quite interesting. Michael Douglas is outstanding, although not physically similar to Franklin. Much of the story is historical although some...

Thanks for posting, gives me a few more movies to watch. Maybe half of the movies are not WWII but Korean War but look good nonetheless.

The American Revolution by Ken Burns

I think it may be for people who know nothing about American history. But you're right it is the single most important fact now presented in every biography, book, tv series, article, etc. It does get wearisome. The Ken Burns docuseries on B Franklin went on at great length about this.

The American Revolution by Ken Burns

Watched episode one and thought it quite good. Some of the interviewed historians were also featured in Burns docuseries Benjamin Franklin. Enjoyed seeing R Atkinson as I have read most of his books, sometimes twice. One historian said the main basis of the Revolution was land acquisition by...

    NCAA Football 2024

Just saw it and what the trooper did was a blatant confrontation with the player. The players acted with more restraint and composure than the officer. Just imagine what it's like when he pulls someone over on the hwy.

    Battle for Arnhem....

Kevin, hope you don't mind me posting a Market Garden related photo. This Robert Taylor print hangs in my study. It depicts the 101st Airborne drop during the opening phase of the battle and is signed by four Easy Company veterans. I was assigned to a tactical airlift sqdn that traced it...

    1962: Britain's Scrap Iron Armada

I've always thought it a bit sad to see warships that were fought so courageously during WWII ending up as scrap, particularly the USS Enterprise. Interestingly, the US Navy brought freighters out of the mothball fleet and used them during the two wars with Iraq.

    Nuremberg

Saw the movie yesterday, not exactly a packed house. Thought the movie good, not great. Judgement At Nuremberg with Spencer Tracy better.

    Battle for Arnhem....

"In addition, in this case, the division landed piecemeal because of the shortage of available transport. There was a failure to deliver the whole division to action in one day." THe shortage was due to the air transport element commander, Lewis Brereton, refusing to have the aircrews fly...

    Rhode Island Artillery dio

Mark, the placement of the figures is so well done. The smoke effect adds a lot, especially the swirling scene. This is a great work.
