New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

This is a better image of the figure from an Osprey book. It should look good as a glossy with these colours.:smile2:

New Hope design- Army of the Andes figure.

This figure came among a box of them needing repairs. He is missing both arms and his identity has kept me guessing for about a year- I thought that he may be a French infantryman. Anyway I had a good look at New Hope Catalogues available on the net and found that he is from their Army of the...

Anyone looking for unmade Historex kits at bargain prices

KV, I would be interested in a few of the bits and bobs for restoring some figures. No idea what they are worth though. Scott

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

John, Yes it is the Rose figure. I have the painting guide but am curious as to who he was. Grognard, Thanks for looking. Does the tricolour material tied around his left arm signify anything? Scott

    Caron d'Hevilly- Who was he?

A question for the Napoleonic buffs. I am working on a figure of the Frenchman Caron d' Hevilly, Colonel of Hussars and a staff officer. There are plenty of images available of his uniform available on the internet, but precious little about the man. Can anyone add some details to this...

Restoring Brunswick Hussars- New Hope Designs.

Finished at Last! Sabretaches and swords made from cereal boxes, plastic card, fuse wire and masking tape. Reins are electrical paint that the adhesive was removed from and then the tape was painted. Five months work but looking better now than the images in the first post of this thread. Scott

New 7YW Range from Alexanders Toy Soldiers

Not an era I collect John, but I will say that those Serbian Hussars look spectacular in gloss. That is a very colourful uniform. I think the ATS Website would benefit from some larger images of the figures. Scott

Help to identify some toy soldiers

JMZ, Following on from Brad you could post images of those 28mm wargames figures on a Wargames forum like the Lead Adventure Forum. There are and have been a lot of manufacturers over the years. Are there any markings on the base? You could strip and repaint them fairly easily. Scott

Restoring Brunswick Hussars- New Hope Designs.

Brad, Another material to add among those is pewter sheet. I haven't tried it yet but have straightened swords and limbs on pewter figures readily after soaking in hot water. I'm not sure where you can purchase it but may ask at a jewelers. Malleability is its main feature as well as being soft...

Restoring Brunswick Hussars- New Hope Designs.

Have been making slow progress on these two. I have finished the blanket rolls which I made from Milliput and after painting I glued these onto the horses. I made bridles from fuse wire and have glued them into position. Recently I have started work on the missing swords and sabretaches...

What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ?

No Imrie-Risleys Mirof and no missing parts. A couple of manufacturers I have not come across before- Labayen and Superior Models. Will post some images of the kits when I start them. They may be of interest to others. I agree about the Ray Lamb sculpts. The way the components fit together...

    Repaint of Modern Starlux

They came up well Benjamin. I'm tempted to have an attempt at some Qiuralu figures in a similar vein to these. Scott

    Uniform help

Kirk, If you are still painting this figure this may help. I have been looking for this magazine for weeks. Officer on the right with black plume as already advised in the thread from Military Modelling May 1980. An officer from each Yeomanry regiment attended the coronation of king George V...

Applying Matt finish to gloss figures, doesn't always work

Ray, I meant by the last post that I think the physical thickness of the gloss coat has some affect on any subsequent finish. Scott.
