I am painting a New Hope Design Lincolnshire Yeomanry Lancer Officer , 1911 .

I have two questions .

1) What colour is the cap plume ? It is not mentioned in the painting instructions .

I found two images , one shows a white plume and one a green plume ( matching the uniform )

2)There is a lot of silver( lace , buttons , pouch belt , etc.) Should I leave it shiny or apply a wash to dull it down a bit ?

Any help much appreciated

Thanks
Kirk

Hi Kirk,

I have just spoken with my expert researcher who has every info and uniform / regs book imaginable and he has come back with this for you.

Black cock feathers for officers. The lace and buttons are bright silver bullion

Hope that helps

Malcolm.

Thanks for the info.Malcolm.

Hope you are on the mend

Hi Kirk,

Checking in between much needed intakes of pain relief and sleep{sm4} thanks K.

Hi,
I had the Uniformology site saved sometime ago but it dropped off my list. It has changed a lot for the better ---- as mentioned below a great reference source for British Yeomanry. Thanks for flagging it up.

Kirk,

If you are still painting this figure this may help. I have been looking for this magazine for weeks.

Officer on the right with black plume as already advised in the thread from Military Modelling May 1980.

An officer from each Yeomanry regiment attended the coronation of king George V in June 1911. This is possibly the basis for the series of figures.

PM me with your e-mail if you want a copy of the article.
