Nice! This is EQ44 – Royal Welsh Fusiliers with Maxim machine gun, definitely for the Boxer Rebellion range. They also made this regiment with a Gatling gun.
Great, scarce set. I really don’t think the base color makes much difference in this case—they both represent later sets with scenic bases and improved sculpting. The base color could vary depending on the batch and whatever paint was used that day. I’ve seen the same situation with other Trophy...
Thank you. BS33 Chinese Imperial Infantry came with different flag colors—red, white, and blue. I believe the white flag was mostly included with the Dragon Crest issue, though I could be wrong.
Excellent! If you have the later version of the Chinese Imperial Infantry, please post some photos. The Boxer Rebellion is an excellent range, but I always felt Len could have added a few more cool sets that he never got around to.
Hawkeye, thank you! Very nice later-issue sets with scenic bases. You're right—the advancing set is relatively common, especially the first issue with the rectangular base. But the charging set is a scarce one, since anything produced toward the end of the Trophy run was made in much smaller...
Len managed to make this staff car—and another one with Maharajas—for the RAJ range. I was always curious about the casting used for this Rolls-Royce-style vehicle, and some time ago I discovered that he used Rosedale castings to make these cars.
There was a dealer in the UK who had the moulds...
Big Top Toys (BTT) circus figures were made by a British company called BTT—Big Top Toys, which was a small-scale producer of hand-painted metal circus figures and accessories, primarily active in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Thank you, Louis. It’s a great and quite scarce piece—Len didn’t make many of them. It took me some time to track one down, but I finally received it a few weeks ago.
Pats, please share your story of how you captured the Lion—and its number too! I’m trying to establish patterns so I can track down this elusive beast myself. Think of it as big game hunting...no tranquilizers needed—just patience, luck, and probably a second mortgage.:)
Thank you, Hawkeye, for posting my #1 Trophy target! More photos are very welcome. And please—do share the story of how you got it. What is its number? Did it cost you an arm and a leg... or just your collecting soul? 😄.
