    Who's best at plastic?

But those figures constantly seem to get smaller and smaller all the time! :D

G.I. Joe as a way of life...

I don't know if it's an age / generational thing or not, but to me, the only "true" G. I. Joes are the 12-inch tall guys you could change the uniforms on. The "smaller" Joes and Cobra figures they later came out with just don't seem like they deserve the name "G. I. Joe" . . . they weren't the...

    Accurate Minutemen conversions.

"Southern Militia or Morgan's Rifles. New England MM didn't wear this kind of clothing but you would see these riflemen in Washington's camp at Cambridge. Why did the sculptor have the rifleman firing upward? (Hunting?)" ------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe...

    Who's best at plastic?

Just curious . . . in your opinion, who currently produces the best and most affordable plastic toy soldiers? Do you have different choices for certain time periods? And who has the best painted plastic figures and the best unpainted figures?

Poll For What Kinds Of German (Axis) and Allied Vehicles You Would Like To See!

I vote for airfield vehicles because they lent so much support without being the "glamor" vehicles like tanks and jeeps. Also, would enjoy seeing support vehicles like those of the Red Ball Express (wasn't sure if they would fall under D-Day or not for the poll), especially if more...

    Figures of Our Dreams!

They've been doing a pretty good job of expanding beyond the generals first put out by Britains when RC Ertl owned the company. . . I, too, would like to see more of the famous figures (on both sides) from history, no matter what their rank may be.

New York Times article on false military claims

I thought there had been a discussion recently about a guy making false claims about his WWII record, but I can't find it again, so I'm starting a new thread. Saw this article in today's NYT about people making false / exaggerated claims regarding military service re:various wars and thought it...

    21st Century Toys-more uncertainty

Still no luck at the webite . . . thought something may be up by now saying that it's no longer in business. Out of curiosity, I tried a different website address (admin21st.web.aplus.net) from an earlier (Apr. 2008) message and got this: "Dear Fans and Visitors to 21st Century Toys, Inc...

    Size ?

This may be totally off-base, but has anybody tried splitting the difference with 57 mm to try and appease both sides? (Hey, not all people are the same size!) :D

Plastic Civil War figures from Safari Ltd.

Has anybody seen these? They're from a company called Safari Ltd., and they seem to be around $14 - $15 (U.S) a set around here. There are two sets of Confederate soldiers (one with five soldiers and a sixth piece of lanscaping; the other with a mounted figure, three standing soldiers, and a...

    "Gone With The Wind"

Very nice concept here! If anyone wants, Department 56 made a building facade of Gone With the Wind's "Tara" and a Scarlett figure several years back . . . since retired.

    New club figure

Also, do sales go up around anniversary dates and drop off for a couple of years after? We just had the 65th anniversary for D-Day, which generated a lot of publicity, but American Civil War is approaching the 150th anniversary.

Which historical military period are you passionate about collecting?

I'm guessing FIW is French & Indian War?

    Where do collectors hail from?

I'm sort of surprised there aren't more Canadians. (Maybe they just don't do polls like this?)

Does anyone collect Britain's figures other than Zulu's?

I don't own any of the Zulu pieces . . . mostly American Civil War and Revolutionary War / War of Independence. The Zulu War pieces are interesting, but I guess my lack of knowledge of the period doesn't interest me as much. (Has anybody noticed if there's any geographical or generational...

    Why We Love Britain's!

A really simple reason . . . availability. I know of toy stores that carry Britains and have them available for customers to see and buy. And once you see how well they're done, you become hooked. (Other brands may be carried in specialty shops, but there are none around me that I'm aware of.)

    Transogram figures?

The thing I remember Transogram for was a toy I got in the early-to-mid 1960's called "Trik Trak". (Picture from internet . . . lord knows what happened to mine!)
