While I was stripping the Brunswick I found another figure I had left with the gear a while ago. The figure is Valiant Miniatures Bugle Major of the Highland Light Infantry, stationed at Malta in 1898- an odd choice of subject I think, but something Valiant seemed to do.
Attached is a picture...
A bit more progress.
Have stripped, cleaned up the Brunswick Light Infantryman and am now re-assembling him ready to sculpt his pack and blanket roll. Will also have to repair the bayonet on his musket and make a ramrod for his left hand.
Harry,
That looks good.
A couple of questions.
What sculpting tool do you use for that effect? And do you need to keep wetting the tool as you shape the putty?
I've watched a few videos on sculpting with green stuff and use it myself for minor repairs but am keen to learn more.

Appreciate you having a look John. First Legion made a nice figure of which I have found some images of the pack and gear. They actually look simple (nice and boxy).
The Field Officer sculpt by New Hope is considerably more portly than the Osprey illustration.
The fifer is a double up. I...
Yes, that's the one John- Light Infantry Avantgarde.
He is missing a bayonet and his pack and blanket but looks like he will clean up OK.
You don't happen to have any images of them showing a rear view of the pack and blanket? I am planning on sculpting them with Milliput.
I think the clean...
Indeed they have something in common... both are survivors from the box of broken New Hopes.
The Brunswick Light Infantry man may well join them soon.

Finally finished my Covid builds.
Firstly the Masterbox Red Lance and little lady in the glass terarium. Possibly my first and last Masterbox Napoleonic. Please excuse a bit of glue visible on the hoofs and lady's clogs but they were too small to pin to the base.
John,
That is a kit I have always wanted to make one day as well. so watching your build with interest.
I particularly like how that lead driver's horse has been sculpted, bringing his head close to his chest before taking up the strain.

Finally finished painting the Dutch Lancer. Both figures drying in the sun for a few days before a gloss coat.
I found the Lancer particularly difficult to build and paint due to the micro size of some of the smaller parts (there is a noticeable difference between 1/32 and 1/35) so this has...
I would be wary of a couple of things in that video. First I would be using gloves using any thinners like used there. Secondly I would suggest that being a paint thinner there is a danger of fumes in a confined space.
When I strip metal figures (both white metal and pewter) I use domestic...
Thanks for the encouragement Victor.
Slowly coming over the hill on the Prussian Hussar today. I managed to mount the left hand/sword/sabretache satisfactorily today. Will let the glue set for a while them go over any paint touch ups the figure needs and in a day or two a gloss coat if its...
A bit more progress. Masking tape reins made for the horse and painting finished. Moving on to the Red Lancer figure and doing the sabretache/swords for both. I painted the crown and cipher freehand on the Prussian Hussar sabretache-fiddly!
A rainy day. Making some progress on the Hussar and the little horse. Need to sort out mounting of the Hussar's left hand, sword, sabretache ans straps which are all one casting.

I would go with the whip as well.
This is looking good John. If you feel the need, once this one is finished, to do the French Horse Artillery I have a few of the figures I would happily trade with you when you are ready.
