    Sink The Bismarck!

A day late but a tribute the Royal Navy for sinking the Bismarck 27 May 1941. The 1960 film, Sink The Bismarck was a great film IMO.

    A Nation Is Born

On this date in 1775, exactly 250 yrs ago today, were fought the Battles Of Lexington and Concord with the shot heard round the world. These followed the ride of Paul Revere, and others, to warn "the regulars are coming" (not the British are coming, as we were all British at the time).

    Lee, movie

I'm an avid reader of all things related to early American history (R Atkinson's next book due out in May), the ACW and WWII. So I recently read Lee Miller's War, a collection of her photos and narrative put together by her son. She was a high society model and photographer becoming a renown...

    Bob Newhart RIP

Bob Newhart passed away at age 94 yesterday. He was a great comedian and did many deadpan monologues. May he rest in peace trading jokes with his best friend Don Rickles.

    Horizon

Watched this one yesterday with one of my sons. A good but not great movie in our shared opinion, w K Costner. We both thought it tried too hard to be like Lonesome Dove with disparate plot threads. Not doing well at the box office, probably should have been released as a tv series, which...

    Legends and Lies: The Patriots

Looked fwd to this series but it's terrible. Kind of a docudrama with Kelsey Grammer lecturing on "what really happened" while he constantly looks off camera. Tried a few episodes but it's a lot of fiction, maybe that's where the "Lies" in the title applies. As an example, the episode about B...

    M3 Tank Question

While watching the WWII documentary by George Stevens (famous director who headed up a US Army film crew) D Day To Berlin, I noticed an M-3 tank in a convoy with M-4s moving thru France. It had the 75mm gun but the 37 had been removed. I can find no reference for these tanks serving in France...
