Guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist-was looking at the CS Nijmegen and Arnhem sets to see if they could go together with K&C. Great poses, esp the SS Panzergrenadier doing close quarters with a Para but the differences (facial expressions, CS slightly bigger) are too great. Too bad.
One area that's never really touched upon is the CBI. Recently bought a book on Kohima-epic stand made there by British, Indian and Ghurka troops which stopped the Japanese invasion of India in spring of '44. Stands alongside Rorke's Drift and the Imjin in the history of the British Army-a...
I really like the D-Day Cromwell but have to wait a while-just bought the MG Recce jeep and have my eye on the 6 pounder as my next purchase. Being a die hard history buff with a finite budget (and living space) I have to compromise and stick with the WW2 sets despite the other fantastic pieces...
Welcome mate,
Am new to the ranks myself-been collecting Market Garden sets and was going to stick mainly to that-no such luck. Broke down and bought some 8th Army and British D-Day pieces am now looking at the British pieces in the WWI and Napoleonic series-"addiction" is putting it mildly...
Glad to hear your friend is feeling better-there is definitely alot of truth to the saying that "you still have your health". Please extend my best wishes. Pegasus
Know the feeling. Have had a growing interest in the British Army for quite a while that has grown into a full blown storm. Was (and still am) buying prints on Arnhem and Normandy when I stumbled across K&C. Was only collecting MG pieces but temptaion has gotten the better of me and just picked...
Good morning Sir,
I'm also a WW2 collector but since my favorite area is British Airborne I lean towards the MG sets. Love the 75mm pack howitzer and the 25 pounder as far as artillery goes and the Sherman VC Firefly is my favorite tank. How about you?
Nasir,
A man can never have too many friends. Hope all is well on your end. I'm a newcomer to collecting. Discovered K&C quite by accident and been collecting mostly MG sets but yesterday snapped up the "Best of Enemies" piece from the Eighth Army series. This hobby is both a blessing and a...
That would make a nice set. How about Harry and the German surrender demand? ("I'm afraid we haven't got the facililities to take all of you prisoner-sorry. Was there anything else?) BTW-did that really happen or is it just Hollywood? Anyway my favorite scene from the movie.
Was looking at FOV on a website when I stumbled across K&Cs Market Garden sets. Being a British Airborne buff I started collecting them a year ago-just fantastic. Hate to say this and mean no disrespect to "Arnhem" owners but the current set is far better but that's just me. Any other MG...
Can't really agree on their being "toyish". Can't explain it myself-I just like their style. Was looking at Collector's Showcase Arnhem pieces yesterday. They have some interesting poses (close combat with SS Panzergrenadiers for one) but their faces look wooden, like a puppets' As for...
My ex felt the same-"Why do you need another book on Napoleon's invasion of Russia?" Haven't they ever felt passionate about anything? Besides, we could be doing far worse things.
Having Howard meeting Lovat with Millin playing the pipes would make for a nice dio, but the bridge itself would be pretty ****ed big. A Major Howard and Cpl Tappenden (Ham and bloody jam!) set would be a winner.
Major,
Quite true and that's the beauty of it. With those few pieces one can set up Merville and/or Pegasus and Horsa Bridge along with "Varsity" dios using MG figures. Just a thought.
