“Andy’s Free Gift” and some other points… (1 Viewer)

Well, I just talked to Ed (halomeeps), who attended the Symposium, and he had a relapse, plus he gave it to his son, who is now on drugs, plus mine has probably degenerated into a sinus infection so I'm heading to the ear doc on Tuesday (not to mention my wife is ready to kill me).

Before Andy arrives in the US again, I suggest US Customs issue a health alert and at next year's Symposium we should all wear surgical masks.

Sent Andy the Doctor bill, or better yet have him pay you in new Toy Soldiers.:D Do think he would do this:confused:

OK I should turn off this laptop and go to sleep.

Hi Guys,

Re some recent “posts”…

1. “Need more Commonwealth sets” – Totally agree, I personally love the Eighth Army which was made up of Brits… Aussies… Kiwis… Springboks.. Indians… Free Poles and Free French plus quite a few others.
Well, so far we’ve done Aussies… Brits (including Scots). In May we’ve got more Brits… Kiwis… and Indians. Hopefully they’ll sell by the thousands and justify making many more.
But, as usual, you must remember a company produces what sells… not necessarily what you in particular would like. Often I have to rein in my own particular enthusiasm about certain campaigns, soldiers and fighting vehicles because hard experience teaches the best lessons.
Oh and by the way, we’ve got some, very, very interesting Vichy troops coming out in August. They’ll look great in the desert.

2. German Tank Options – We’re looking into this as I write.

3. Napoleon in Egypt – Great idea to use our “Ancient Egyptian” accessory pieces with some Napoleonics. I’ve used the same pieces with Afrika Korps and they look awesome!

4. Andy’s Free Gift – Much as I regret spreading my one-man pandemic throughout the entire North Eastern United States (and parts of Europe) I did not import it from Hong Kong. I definitely picked the bug up Stateside… California seems the likely culprit.

As Bugs Bunny would say…”That’s All For Now, Folks!”

Best wishes and… happy collecting!

Andy C.

Dear Andy

You're forgiven the gift, (my family now also thank you).:) I believe Mike Neville has also had it :(

On a serious note (if there is such a thing), would really appreciate a european pz3 at least as good as the excellent DAK version - for FOB/blitzkrieg or maybe a pz3m for later war? Your pz1 LAH version is superb, maybe a repaint?

Best wishes, stay in business.

Kevin :D

Dear Andy,

I think the Vichy news is pretty exciting. I'm assuming they're just for Desert or are they part of FoB and thus usable in both theatres. I didn't know EA included Kiwis, the more the better.

Regarding your "free gift," I think at the very least you can give us a real gift for the trouble and expense (doctors, hearing it from our spouses, etc.). I think a Bedford would be nice. I'll get everybody affected -- that is, afflicted -- to send you their address.

At least it wasn't brought in from Asia.

I hate to bring up this thread again but I think Andy may have given me another free gift -- hopefully a very, very limited edition: I feel another cold coming on.

Thanks buddy:( :)

I hate to think what people will say when K & C makes a figure with the confederate battle flag. Andy is 100% correct history should be told truthfully and to heck with the politically correct. Just because some activist, politician or movie star says this is the way it was doesn't make it so, you had better start checking the facts. The people who rant and rave about the battle flag will not even flinch at a stars and bars or the bonnie blue flag.
By the way y'all need to cool all this cold and flu talk or somebody will get the ideal K & C is doing a black plague series. Do the graves come with that or are the optional?

Brad,

I'd start demanding compensation.
You could get a Fluka dive bomber limited edition warbird out of him for spreading the sniffles.

(Sorry, that's bad even by my standards)

Dear friends,
for the second year in a row i missed getting Andy's free gift.Perhaps the never ending colds i get from my granchildren has conveyed some immunity.
On a more serious note it was a distinct privilege to be part of the NY Symposium.Louis's museum defies descriptions and one could easily spend a few days daydreaming about louis's spectacular collection.(Louis, i promise not to knock over any more pieces in your collection).
It was a very special evening being hosted at Larry's restaurant:thanks to Louis,Larry, and Hans last weekend will always remain a special memory.
Of course seeing Andy and Gordon is a landmark occasion and to peter, shannon, gideon, tim, rob, mark,my friend brad, and all the other kings of country,my many thanks for the visit and exchage of ideas that you all presented.

Being a person who is currently GREEN WITH ENVY of those who were able to attend the NY Symposium, remember sometimes you have to pay for pleasure and perhaps, just perhaps this is payment due for over indulgence in quality hobby related time. Remember this is from a very green person, ya'll get what ya deserve, so na :p ;) :) :)

The first time we did the symposium at my store, Andy had a cold which he gave to all of us.

This has become part of the event. One of the many great take aways!

I really did get a free gift - a wonderful diorama. And for once I didn't get sick, which is really surprising considering how little sleep I got (except at Andy's luncheon!). O.K. Brian, I know you desperately want to post the photo of me passed out at lunch, so go ahead, embarass your host. I'll still send you back the leatehr jacket and blackberry you forgot at my house gratis (a little guilt trip never hurt anyone).

Andy we thank you for your free gift of the common cold, but we collectors want more!

For our British troops we must have!,VD,Gippy tummy and Athletes foot. For our German troops we need Bad Breath,Body Odour and an 88mm crew all with toothache!.For our Italians we want Indigestion,Lethargy and an appreciation of good wine!!And for the Aussies we need more VD and a Jungle patrol with hangovers!.

When your married to a nurse, the novelty soon wears off.
Try looking up 'sympathy' in a nursing dictionary and see what it's in between....

Simon

That sounded heartfelt.I can imagine what sympathy is between in the nurses dictionary, something i narrowly avoided catching in the West Indies when i was a carefree youth!

Rob

SYMPATHOMIMETIC: n. a drug that has the effect of stimulating the sympathetic nervous sysytem.

SYMPATHY n. a reciprocal influence exercised by different parts of the body on one another.

SYMPHYSIOTOMY n. the operation of cutting through the front of the pelvis at the pubic symphysis in order to enlarge the diameter of the pelvis and aid delivery of a fetus whose head is too large to pass through the pelvic opening.

Sounds like you had a fun time in the West Indies Rob! LOL LOL
