Hi Guys,

Following up on the pics of the Australian troops in action on Gallipoli...Here is a little dio of the Aussies capturing one of the Turkish strongpoints in the Ottoman trench line on the 6th of August 1915.

For another 3 days the Australians fought off numerous Turkish counter-attacks. Finally on 9th August the Turks called off their assaults and the Australians held on to the position.

The bitter fight became known as “The Battle of Lone Pine”.

All the best and happy collecting!

Andy

P.S. If the display itself looks a wee bit familiar...It was also a German strongpoint when it was attacked and captured by our French “horizon bleu” Poilus at the Chicago Show in September.

Looks like a lot fun setting up that diorama. The terrain is perfect for the assault. Robin.

Well Done Andy,

this just goes to show that Gordon's dioramas can be used in a multitude of scenarios using your figures from different campaigns.

Thanks for showing us this and the preview of the new figures,
I'm sure you will have them 'running out the doors' as soon as they are released,

John

Andy,

Interesting how you use some of the Light Horse figures in with the new Gallipoli figures.

Just a great DIO.

So looking forward to the release.

Regards
Mark

Andy mate,
Outstanding Dio of Lone Pine and excellent tactical use of the great new figures. Very much like the Lighthorseman thrown in there as there was a Squadron of the 7th LH which along with the 7th & 12th Battalions were sent into reinforce the original attacking 3 Aussie Battalions (2nd, 3rd & 4th).
The Turkish boys of the 47th Regiment under Tewfik Bey put up a good fight which lasted for three days of hand to hand fighting. In the end the Aussies held the position and seven Victoria Crosses were awarded.
A good victory in a losing campaign. :salute::
Cheers Howard

Hopefully this will come out next month, I would love to get these in my hands as quickly as it gets released.

Spartan mate,
Andy told me yesterday that those figures and that Dio will be on display at the West Coaster Show in your neck of the woods. I wish I could get along and view both but you are closer so check it out.:smile2:
Cheers Howard
