Hi Guys,
Following up on the pics of the Australian troops in action on Gallipoli...Here is a little dio of the Aussies capturing one of the Turkish strongpoints in the Ottoman trench line on the 6th of August 1915.
For another 3 days the Australians fought off numerous Turkish counter-attacks. Finally on 9th August the Turks called off their assaults and the Australians held on to the position.
The bitter fight became known as “The Battle of Lone Pine”.

P.S. If the display itself looks a wee bit familiar...It was also a German strongpoint when it was attacked and captured by our French “horizon bleu” Poilus at the Chicago Show in September.
