Hullo There,

Well, I finally got the landscaping completed for the base of the “Fortified Manor House”.

As you can see we’re back in “Bonnie Scotland” sometime after August 1914…The King’s Scottish home, “Balmoral”, has just rec’d a surprise visit from his German cousin “Willhelm”…Not only him but a whole big bunch of his unruly friends!!!

A wee bit of whimsy – but it does go to show how a good display can show off an amazing range of different series.

And…We’re not finished yet – Watch this space.

Thanks again lads for all the many kind and appreciative comments.

Gordon C.

Second that one Robin, she's a beaut building and you could work it into almost any scenario. Would make a great hospital or rest area for the troops too.{sm4}

Totally agree as well Robin although I think Gordon would be constructing the buildings from the grave to achieve such a feat! ^&grin

I think those were some of the best figures K & C ever made, particularly the Staff Car.

If this had happened, Rob would be Rupert Von Wilson {eek3}

These different settings for this magnificent building/dio that Andy has been displaying these last days only stress how much a nice and versatile diorama piece can enrich dramatically any TS collection! Keep’em coming Andy! {bravo}}:salute::

Would any one guess what would be the cost to have one of these buildings? Just the building?
For sure it is a direct cost related to Gordon´s man hours for it is just to big to me molded on a semi industrial fashion^&confuse:confused::confused:

Cheers

I guess a model maker could cost himself at $50 an hour and I can see 40 hours work here, so $2000. The materials are are not expensive, just the talent. I could see a collector offering $2000 plus to secure a one off original. Robin.

I think you're onto it Robin, one-off custom made items will almost always be a little pricey. I have no doubt Gordon, Andy and the K&C team have a price formula based on the tried and trusted methods and lots of experience.

As a thought, would it be possible to release such a building in 3 or 4 segments to make it more affordable for collectors to purchase over time? I don't know how cost effective that would be or even if collectors would be interested, but it might be a way around trying to afford something of that size in one hit?

The segments could possible work as stand alone pieces too, a bit like the popular desert village & Normandy buildings maybe?

There certainly appears to be lots of interest and I for one love the buildings/walls and all the accessories K&C produce.:salute::

Anyway just some thoughts to ponder?

If the building is going to Chicago, and I think Gordon said it was, it will be sold there; I'm sure it's already spoken for. Based on what I know of some previous sales at Chicago, I estimate $8,000 to $12,000.

When I was getting ready to post yesterday, I looked up your name and the name Robert has Germanic origins.

Again, this is just incredible! Each set of K&C themes shows the versatility of this fantastic structure. I'm looking forward to seeing some WWII Germans.
