Hi Guys,
Here’s another adaptated version of Gordon’s recently completed “Forest Road”
This time around we picture some of the events AFTER Dunkirk and the evacuation of the B.E.F. (British Expeditionary Force) from northern France.
After the final withdrawal of the British Forces in early June 1940, the Germans launched a second operation Fall Rot” (Case Red) on 5 June 1940 to conquer the rest of France.
While the remaining, much depleted French Army initially put up stiff resistance they were soon overwhelmed by German air superiority and armoured mobility.
As French forces began to fall back they were joined by millions of their fellow civilians citizens desperate to escape the advancing Germans.
Here we see a French infantry unit together with groups of civilians slowly making their way, they hope, to safety…somewhere.
As they trudge dejectedly along the country road they pass by abandoned artillery, armour and personal belongings…
“How long will this retreat last…? ” They ask themselves.

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy

Beautiful diorama . Figures and abandoned belongings well selected to fit together . What I've noticed : For the 1st time K&C is hiding the figure bases ( or am I wrong ?). Well done
guy:)

I noted the bases covered as well, a trend I hope continues.......:salute::

"King & Country":

Yes, the figures bases not being shown adds more realisim to the diorama!

Great diorama. Just one point to clarify things. After Dunkirk there were still thousands of British troops still fighting in France many of whom were eventually to be evacuated from the French Biscay ports.

I think that they may have been photo-shopped out. The whole diorama works well. Really nice work.

I assume that a dio of a retreat looks better going from right to left because we read from left to right? You know you are running out of things to say when you comment on that!

Yes they do appear to be photo-shopped but what I hope it shows is that K&C acknowledge that covered bases equal a diorama as opposed to uncovered a display IMO. What I can't
acknowledge is you would ever run out of something to say!.............:wink2:
