“This ‘n’ That” January 2015 (2 Viewers)

Further Japanese Naval aircraft like the Val or Kate would be fantastic but I find myself wondering if they are doable in the polystone that is currently used. Both the Kate and the Val are quite a bit larger, especially wingspan, than the fighter aircraft that KC has been doing. The Kate would have quite a bit of unsupported wing with the Val a little less so. I can't recall all the polystone fighter aircraft KC has made, but the P-47 might be the largest and both the Val and Kate are bigger in wingspan, the Kate about 18% or so. Can they be done? -- Al

A very valid point Al, I guess, not having purchased a Plane before. In my ignorance, I have seen rather large (wing span) planes from K&C as well as others and (assumed) that they could do a Val, Kate or whatever.

Are there other materials that could be used to produce a similar quality aircraft? Just asking? :rolleyes2:

Dear Andy:

Any chance of adding more figures/sets to your "Surrender of Singapore" on 15 February 1942 by the British Army series that you started not too long ago?

I would be happy to buy additional figures to include the "missing" British Brigadier General walking beside Gen. Perceval, more escorting Japanese Army troops, etc.

"Iron Brigade" / Gary

I recently saw this set in person at Sierra and it is really incredible and very well done.

Gary,

I recall that I posted a photograph that gives a possible ID of the three figures in the King & Country set, namely Lt. Gen. Percival, Brig. Newbigging (Union Jack) and Maj. Wild (white flag). I think Brigadier Torrance is the British officer not represented in the set. I have reposted the photograph below for easy reference.

Raymond.

Hi Guys,

As I wrote earlier, following the success of the “Zero” several collectors have enquired about the possibility of a Third “Zero”...Because that model is already carved and cast it’s relatively straight forward to produce a third version.

As for either a “Val” or “Kate” they are, as noted, substantially larger than the “Zero” so might have issues with distortion. However both are still under consideration so who knows. As and when there’s more to report I’ll let you guys know. Many thanks for your interest and enthusiastic support.

Best wishes and happy flying!

One of the earlier posts mentioned K &C's "Singapore surrender set". How about celebrating the 70th anniversary of VE day, coming up in May, with a set of the Germans surrendering to FM Montgomery at Luneberg Heath?

Thank you Andy for the info .... I cast my vote for a lot more Japanese Pacific WWII sets!!!

For larger planes, polystone, the medium used by K & C, won't work as it is too heavy.

However, Figarti has been able to do larger planes with polyurethane so it's doable, just not in polystone.

Dear Raymond:

Thanks for your posting this reply back with photo about "Brig. gen. Torrance" being the officer walking to the right of Lt. General Percival who is not part of the K&C set of the British surrender party. As I was posting my response to Andy Neilson I did not feel like going down into our basement to view the photos you were kind enough to send to me a year or so back. This also explains my misspelling of Lt. Gen. "Percival". I have the photos you sent to me affixed to the top of the backdrop as part of my display of the British surrender in Singapore in WW2. Hopefully K&C will add more figures to the "Surrender at Singapore" sets.

Best regards, Gary

Although the Surrender set were well done figures, I remember certain collectors (and perhaps it was via pm) not being thrilled with this set as it reminded them of a shameful episode in history, one soon best forgotten.

Hi Guys,
A few replies and responses to some recent posts...

1. “World of Dickens”
In the works at the moment are a brand-new “Oliver Twist”...”A Hot Chestnut Seller” and a young “Pie Maker”. Quite a few other pieces are also in development.

2. “Tora! Tora! Tora!”
I love our new A6M “Zero” with the panel lines...and it would seem so do many other K&C collectors who have made it one of our best sellers of recent years. Now, I also know that not everyone like those “lines” but I do think they add character to the model...
Question: How many of you would be interested in seeing a “Third” Zero albeit still Imperial Navy light grey but with the different markings of a well-known Japanese Ace?

3. “Uhlans”
I agree with “Old Bill” that those Uhlans were among the best cavalry figures K&C ever produced...Strangely, at the time, they were a “slow” seller!

4. Our P40
If I ever get around to it I’d like to see a K&C “Pearl Harbor” P40 or even a Russian “lend-lease” version...Any thoughts Guys...?

5. “Last Two Crusader Tents”
“Templar” from Denmark opined “Dear God! Let this be the last two Crusader Tents!”

I don’t think we’ve done that many...but more than a few “Crusader & Saracens” collectors want a tented camp that’s not just 3 or 4 tents. PLUS there are new collectors out there who were not able to get the first tent releases...so a couple of additions were provided.

Besides “God” had nothing to do with this particular decision — I accept full responsibility!!!

Best wishes guys and happy collecting...

Andy C.

I think the planes are great Andy and was considering getting one for my collection maybe later in the year.

Just out of curiosity what are the pans for Arnhem?

Is the range going to continue, hopefully the 'P' hasn't put anyone off the range as we still need these reinforcements for Frost! The recent releases are stunning so hopefully we will see more as there are still lots of options and personalities who could be covered!

Thanks, Scott

I'm not a big aircraft guy, BUT.... I'd love to see a Bell P-39 Airacobra. Prefer it to be in US markings, but as it was a major product given to the Soviets, a partner in Red Air Force markings could be done too.

Like to see the P-39 but in USAAC markings of the Cactus AF at Guadalcanal or in the actions around New Guinea. -- Al

Hi Andy,

Got to say, Old Bill is spot on with his comment about those Uhlans, love mine!

Malcolm.

Andy, I have all five Uhlans, they are great!

Hi Guys, hi Scott, Paul and Lancer,

Good to hear from you again...Yes, more "Arnhem" in the third quarter of 2015...Sorry guys, but am not a fan of the P39 “Airacobra” – so don’t look for it any time soon.

Paul...good news for you...Colonel “Mad Jack” Churchill is among the next batch of British Commandos to be released in 2015.

That’s all for now folks!

Thanks for the answer on the P-39, even if it's a negative. I still have to get the Zero and the Renault FT-17 tank and other various releases, anyway. I can wait.:wink2: -- Al

Fantastic, Andy! Jack Churchill will be a treat! Like I said, I don't do much in the way of aircraft. I'm ecstatic that one suggestion I've made will take shape!
