Hi all,

Any members here collect the 1:72 series models be it planes/armor?? I decided to pick up some of the 1:72 diecast Airplanes of WWII, I've always enjoyed the looks of them as well as not costing a ton and taking up less room then the larger scale versions, looking forward to seeing them up close. here is one of my first ones ordered.

[h=1]Messerschmitt Me 110G – JG 1 "Wespen," Luftwaffe, 1943[/h]
Price: $36.99

Quantity:

[h=3][/h]This Model Messerschmitt Airplane has a wingspan that measures 8.75" across and is 6.5" from nose to tail. It can be displayed on the black plastic base included or not.1:72 Scale Die Cast Model Airplanes by Oxford.

I do. I have dozen of 1/72 diecast planes and a bunch of built plastic ones as well.

Sammy, I own quite a few 1/72, mostly diecast. Corgi actually owned the premium end of the space for a long time. About ten years ago, new companies emerged like Hobby Master and Century wings with better molds, and diecast airplanes began to improve pretty dramatically. Corgi responded with new and improved molds of their own. Obviously, this was great for collectors. However, prices began going up around 2012. People began to complain, and a lot of folks bailed as they found the new models unaffordable. MANY makers went out of business. Today, production runs are frequently a fraction of what they were a decade ago. Hopefully, those levels can be sustained and the quality-end of the diecast model airplane industry can survive.

Thanks for the reply Moe, again I'm just sniffing around the new 1:72 scale as I really like the detail on theses Oxford brand and prices aren't to bad, I ordered 4(Mustang, Stuka, Me-109 and the plane shown here) and I'll see where I go from there, if they look as nice as the photos I may add more later on.

Sammy, are you familiar with Oxford's "Blue Box" range? They're the company's best models, and clearly a cut above the rest of its offerings. You might want to give them a look as there are some interesting subjects.

For this scale I mostly collect Jet planes since I build all ww2 planes in bigger scale 1/48 & 1/32.
Here are few pics of my diecast plus couple plastic ones in 1/72

Mostly I build the 1/72 planes. I can find old kits even new ones for less than 20 bucks. Subsequently the bedroom skies are filling up!

My building skills stop when I open the box!!!! ^&grin^&grin wish I had the talent and patience to build, but alas at least there are fine sets to choose from here, going with a Spit, Hurricane, B-24, and the winter ME-109 on next purchase.

I've built several Luft'46 jets including the Horten 229.
Below are some pics of my plastic planes in 1/72

Hey Sam, there's plenty to collect, I had an extensive collection of 1/72 aircraft and armor but switched back to 1/30 scale mainly because the figures add so much to any display.
