10 Reasons Why I Love K&C (1 Viewer)

Really gentleman? We can't compliment a manufacturer? I for one happen to appreciate what Andy, Gordon and the rest of the K&C team have done for the matt toy soldier hobby. Frankly, without their innovation in trying to bridge the gap between traditional glossy toy soldiers (which they produced between 1984 and 1995) and Thor's Aeroart connoisseur figures (which they distributed during this period) it is doubtful that manufacturers like First Legion, John Jenkins Designs and Honour Bound (all of which I also collect) would exist. So thank you Andy, Gordon and K&C for being innovators.

I couldn't agree more with Louis! Andy, Gordon and the K&C team: as we all get to know after our 50's, nothing bothers losers more than success! We have a saying here: while dogs bark, the caravan advances...
Your caravan is simply the best!

I haven't got ten reasons why I love K&C .

But I like toy soldiers from all companies and the mixture that is available is the best it has ever been . Ten reason why I like toy soldiers on a whole is that it brings me back to a time when dirt wars were the only wars that I new about . Things have changed big time but looking at toy soldiers from any maker still brings a smile from me .

Chris.:salute::

I would add the packaging charm, always eye-catching and immediately recognizable by the impeccable graphics, an example is that of the SP series and in particular the Desert Village, perhaps the 11th reason.
Cheers

For me there is only 1 reason why I buy King&Country figurines : They are simply the best in the market !!!
I do not need any other reason.

Many thanks Guy and to our other K&C friends around the world and here on this Forum...Your words and sentiments are truly appreciated by all of us at King & Country...As I have said before I am the luckiest guy in the world...I get to make every toy soldier I ever wanted as a wee boy back in Scotland all those years ago...and the some!

Through King & Country I've also made lots of great friends on 5 continents... and one or two enemies along the way as well...but that's another story that we'll leave behind.

I am also constantly amazed, surprised and delighted by the creativity and ingenuity of collectors here and their fantastic displays and dioramas many of which utilise K&C figures, fighting vehicles and all kinds of accessories to tell great stories in miniature. By doing what you guys do so well you really make our efforts worthwhile.

Thankyou one and all...and a very happy Easter to you and your families! Andy.

K&C have always been by a country mile my favourite producer of Toy Soldiers . The style, colouring , poses have always made their product attractive and addictive to collect. They make superb vehicles and aircraft and the figures are second to none. As a WW2 collector ranges such as Arnhem, RAF, D-day etc are must haves. From Firing poses, hand to hand sets ( Check those Brit Commando sets) or RAF pilots drinking a cuppa while they await the next scramble they number one for a reason. On top of all this I've always found Andy a very friendly, affable, enthusiastic guy who is always happy to chat about the hobby and share his ideas.

I've never believed that just because you have a favourite producer you have to deliberately insult others. Britains, Figarti, First Legion, Thomas Gunn, Collectors Showcase and JJD all make and have made superb items in different eras . And in the same breath as i won't insult others I will say what I personally prefer , and for me it's K&C

Although I can't much more to what others have said, for me it's Andy; he is a great ambassador for K & C and the Hobby a nd few others approach his passion for what he does. Although for some it's only a business, for Andy it's both, a passion and a business. His love of what he does is infectious.

I am currently collecting the K&C 2006 Barbarians and 2001 Romans. I must congratulate Andy and Co. on the quality and historical accuracy of these figures. The Romans are far superior to some current efforts; where the Scutum is square rather than rectangular, as it should be. The Barbarians are in dynamic poses and they work well with a variety of Roman figures in combat dioramas. I agree with Rob that the K&C diorama accessories are one of their best and most innovative lines.

I tend to be critical when a manufacturer gets it wrong or where a good product could become an excellent product, with a few adjustments. Generally K&C gets it right most of the time and more so than many manufacturers who tend to deny problems even exist. I also think K&C is striving to maintain product quality and reasonable prices in a generally down world economy. Tough times mean tough choices and some manufacturers who made the wrong choices are no longer in business. K&C has made the right choices for over 30 years; that is an enviable record IMO.

Hello Gents,

Please keep the discussion civil. If you have some constructive criticism to post create a thread and have at it, this thread was created in order to praise King and Country, plain and simple. So with that I bid you all a lovely Easter Weekend. Enjoy the time with your families.

Dave

And the same to you Dave, have a great Easter and the same goes to everyone on this forum and in this fine hobby of ours.

A good thread! I don't know if I can come up with ten or make it as wide ranging but here's what I like about K & C.

1. Andy. I've had the opportunity to personally chat with Andy in Brisbane over the last few years and I really enjoyed that. Not only will he be engaging on all things toy soldiers but on various other things. I wish I'd placed a bet on a certain presidential candidate that he tipped based on his chats with American collectors.
2. Despatches. My collecting has expanded but there is still a thrill looking at the variety of releases every month. And a wary look at retirements!
3. The Real West. I think this has become my favourite range. The colours and the posses are just wonderful.
4. The Crusades. The first metal toy soldiers I ever purchased. The range has been excellent and is still going. Again, the colours!
5. Napoleonics. My early interest in metal TS was the British army. Andy's Nap range is just perfect for my purpose. I was lucky enough to get in when I did and I managed to pick up a few of the very early ones.
6. Australian figures! I didn't collect the Light Horse, I wanted to, but it was a bit expensive for me. It's been great though to see the Gallipoli figures come out, so many of those Turks are coming home with me and I have a good list of Anzacs now too. At some point my son and I will do a Lone Pine diorama with them.
7. Australian figures 2. I'm so happy that WW2 Japanese jungle fighters are coming out. It's been the range I've been waiting for. Andy's attention to the Pacific is great. The planes are too much for me but they look brilliant! I hope it sells well in England and India too.
8. The friendships. K & C has been the starting point for some great connections being made here. The Nudgee dioramas are an excellent example of this. I've really enjoyed seeing what the guys have put together and also, the general catch ups at various Brisbane steak pubs!

Many thanks 'Larso' for your friendly and appreciative words...Australia and Australians (and their 'Kiwi' cousins) have for me been one of the most important hi-points of my 'toy soldier life'...Their enthusiasm for the hobby in general and K&C in particular has been truly humbling.

As many of you know I have been fortunate to travel to this magnificent country every year for almost a decade and meet some of the very finest blokes (and a few fine lassies) in this great hobby of ours. Their friendliness, generosity and creativity is a joy to behold as is their inbuilt optimism for life, liberty and the pursuit of happinesss. It's all part of the true Aussie character and the real 'Digger' mentality.

One of the greatest compliments I can give this fine country and its people is that as a proud Scot and even prouder Brit every time I come to Australia... I never want to leave it!

All the very best to all my ANZAC mates and...Happy Collecting, Andy.
