Gentlemen of the Mess,
I have just watched a awe inspiring ceremony. Her Majesty the Queen presenting the new Queen's and Regimental Colours to Staff Corp of Cadets at the Royal Military College at Duntroon on the 100th Anniversary of the College. Duntroon being the Australian equivalent of Sandhurst, UK and West Point in the US.
Seeing 400 potential new Australian Army Officers on parade laying down the old Colours and receiving the new ones was a magnificent sight. More inspiring however was watching Her Majesty review the Corp of Cadets on foot at her age and finishing off with an outstanding dedication speech. Fantastic.
As an old soldier it brought a tear to the eye to see so many of Australia's finest young men on parade ready to serve their Sovereign and Country at home and overseas
"Advance Australia Fair."
Cheers Howard

Wayne mate,
Many of those Cadets had a lot of fruit salad on their chest. Tells me that they have come though the ranks and given great service to our fantastic country in Timor, Irag and Afghanstan.

Excellent photos, thanks for posting. Good to see Oz indulging in a bit of the colourful. Only sour note those terrible neck harnesses worn by the side drummers. Wish they would go back to the old white shoulder belts. Trooper

Hear-hear! I won't be making up any of those - for sure. Agreed, those harnesses for side drums look horrible johnnybach

Her Majesty is a petite woman isn't she. ...or are Australians tall? ^&confuse

Nice phots! I agree, the neck drum harness looks like something a highschool drum and bugle corps in the US wear.

Good for those excellent young men. A commentator on television last night was talking about how accomplished the 40,000 young soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan were, in terms of working with the cutting edge of technology, working insane hours under extremely difficult conditions, and exemplifying esprit de corps and courage. I suspect these young people are going to provide the leaders for our nations in the decades to come.:smile2:

Right! As long as every problem or issue doesn't "look like a nail" to them.
