The more I look at John's Chippewa series...the more I really like them.

They may be my favorite series.

Especially Scott's Brigade...

I get the feeling most of you think the grey colors are drab...

but I really like those grey jackets, the blue back packs and the white stained trousers.

The "US" emblem on the packs and canteens is so clear, it really stands out.

I don't see many pictures of them on here and I rarely hear anybody talk about them.

I know Capitolron and OldDragon collect The War of 1812...does anybody else?

Have they been overlooked or are they just boring to Jenkin's collectors?

He has a great variety of poses with 10 different sets of the US, but they don't seem as popular as his other series...and again...I rarely see pictures of them on here.

Anyway...I think they are some of his best painted and best posed...

and all the figures are cast really heavy and sturdy with John's trademark toughness.

Mike,
I have never really had much of a interest in the War of 1812 and most of my interest was in the naval side of the war.

I can see why their could be your favorites Michael and looks like you had fun playing with them today and thanks for sharing your play time with another batch of very nicely done photos....The Lt.

Hello Mike & All

I like JJ's figures, they are robust, well crafted & painted and offer differing poses that others do not. I have some of the french from the FIW lines, the artilley & wagon trains. The gun/wagon trains are my favourite JJD pieces.

As you have observed, I do collect the 1812 line too ... but to be honest, I have focused on the redcoated British. I find that they work very well to "beef up" my other Napoleonic lines.

As for US forces in the Chippewa series/between 1812 to 1814 .. I am unsure where John intends to take us. Perhaps, he may wish to do some militia or other "blue uniformed" units, which IMHO, may be as "colorful" as his FIW Rangers & Indians.

Hey Michael,
Get that water cart back over to the Drift, those boyos are thirsty over there:D.
Bloody good set-up you have!

OD...you posted some photos a while back of your Naps collection...I remember it was a nice collection...but I don't remember seeing any of JJ's US Army...you said you "focus" on the redcoated British...do you only collect them or do you buy any of the Scott's Brigade?

Gracias mi amigo Jose.:D

hi mike new to forum i also collect 1812 series dont know how to post pictures on computer and maybe quite a few other fellows out there. keep up the good work you and polar bear.

Welcome to the forum Old Tank

We would love to see your collection. There is a very informative, and detailed thread on " How to post a pic ??? " in the How to section of this forum.

To Mike

To answer your question ... presently, I only collect the 1812 Redcoats. In terms of size, styling & painting, these blend very well with Redcoats by another manufacturer.

The joys of a Napoleonic diorama is mass. :D

Fine photos Mike! I like them very much, but I really cant start another JJ series. I already started BOS and thats taking up enough space and money.

Welcome to the forum Oscar Tango!!!

PS- Not hijacking , Michael, please don't put me on report:eek:

I collect some of the 1812 sets. To be honest it is my least favorite of the JJ lines. A strange choice in battles and the American uniforms are a bit drab. Still I can appreciate all the reasons for liking it. Would have preferred to see the effort directed toward something like Ticonderoga or Bushy Run. Hope springs eternal though! :)

Great looking series of pictures of your War of 1812 collection Michael. Very well done.

Mike

I would defintely check out the Frontline British Rocket Battery Set (Napoleonic). It might be a great fit. Frontline's mortar set also has possibilities, but more for the F&IW.

Wow Mike! Those are beautiful. You don't need a lot to tell the story but you do get the idea form the photos and poses of line tactics.

Mark...You ought to try one set...they are really nice, especially the US Army side.

Mike...Those "boyos" at the Drift have their hands full...they won't miss it for a while...and by the way...I already reported you and you are officially on "DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION" like in Animal House, so there!

OldTank...Welcome to Treefrog and also I would love to see your collection...if you have trouble with the Treefrog thread on the photo tutorial...PM me on here...I'll give you my phone number and walk you through it...it's really easy.

Titus...Appreciate your position on starting a new series...more money...more money...more money...ps...I emailed you the photos of the jetty dimensions you asked for.

Doug...I know your preferences, lol, 1812 and Jacobites threw you for a loop, I'm the same way sort of...would love to especially see Bushy Run (as was your idea first on here)...or any FIW stateside expedition or battle...but...

Michael...thank you.

Darrell...thank you...and hope the family is handling grandfather's situation well.

Fraxinus...I will look at it...you have always steered me right.

Scott...thank you very much...no story needed here.

PS...nobody said anything critical about it...but the ground work is sawdust I got from the lumber yard...when I asked if I could have some...they laughed and told me to......"take all you want...please...here's a box for you".....lol...I know it's not really appropriate for terrain in 1812 battle...I was just playing around with it and see it has a lot of potential...especially for a barren forrest terrain.

Michael,
The sawdust was/is a great idea! I had to scroll back up and really look at your pics, and found that the sawdust is excellent for covering your bases!
Go Green!
Mike
