18th/19th Century Naval Cannon (1 Viewer)

Hello Weekend Warrior,
Depending upon what you are looking for, and the price range, Bill Hocker produces a 54mm Naval Cannon in the style of Wm. Britains Ltd. Personally have the set, and it is very well done. See; http://wmhocker.com/index.php?s=1812

Hinchliffe made one,

I have a few in my collection, one is in a set with a Royal Navy gun crew,

and the other one will be having a Royal Artillery crew and used on a fortress diorama I'm planning.
Sorry, but these are now unavailable, but may come up sometime on Ebay.

I also have another, but don't know the maker, but I have used Prince August gunners as Coastal Artillery to man it.

And another unknown gun with French gunners from the 7 Years War by Tradition

Nice!!!! Hinchliffe are a bit smaller than JJD aren't they?

Hinchliffe's figures and accessories are 54mm, so yes, it'd probably look smaller than the equivalent Jenkins piece. Next to the figures, it wouldn't look that odd.

But Hinchliffe is long out of business. I don't know if anyone today has the molds-maybe Fleurbaix?-so you'd have to look on the second-hand market to find the kit.

If you want a finished cannon, ready to go, and to fit with Jenkins figures, you probably just ought to order the Jenkins cannon, if it's still available.

If you're not averse to painting your own, then you could just order the kit from Tradition. That's what I'd do.

Prost!
Brad

A few years ago an interesting collection was released in Europe by Atlas Editions. The theme was the Artillery in various periods of History. The guns were presented in sets of 3 or 4 sections that bonded together to form a small diorama in 1:32 scale.
One of these dios depicted a naval cannon at the Battle of Trafalgar with two sailors and an officer. The cannon is firmly glued to the base and to use it alone you have to carefully remove it with a hand grinder, the glue used is really strong! These dioramas can be found from time to time on ebay.
The cannon is very well done IMO.
Cheers
Carlo

I have found another one, it is listed on EBay as made by Fusilier.

I have checked the Fusilier on-line catalogue, but only the figures show up, so maybe send them an email and inquire about the cannon if this looks like what you want.

Recently I have got some castings direct from Mark Turner of Fusilier/Tommy Atkins but they don't appear in the catalogue, so his advice was most useful.

Here is another Naval Cannon that i have recently painted ...

This is by Imrie Risley and came with only the bottom part of the base.
I added the hull with gun port out of balsa wood, and the whole lot was finished in gloss, as requested by the owner.
