Here's a question for the 1944 D-Day experts. I just ordered the retired K&C Beach Master Set and I am planning on using it in a diorama. Since it contains British naval personnel can I add the British Naval officer from the FOB series or is his helmet style not likely to have still been around in 1944? I have included images of the figures in question. Any help/expertise will be appreciated.

I did a little searching, nothing extensive, and found this site. If you scroll down near the bottom, there's a head shot of someone who looks like they may have something of a similar uniform.

Well my knowledge about British Naval uniforms is limited, but I can offer the following:

The helmet is fine. By D-Day Commonwealth forces were starting to shift over to the Mk. 3 (turtle-shell shaped) helmet, especially among assault infantry, but the older Mk. 2 Tommy helmets were still heavily in use.

He's wearing a jerkin and gloves which are also fine (though a bit hot) for D-day. Only thing I'm not sure about is the blue naval uniform under the jerkin, whether it would be in use on D-day.

Thanks Brad and Samurai. The website (which is really quite good and I will bookmark for the future WWII history pages on the Treefrog Resources area) and your comments are very helpful. When I have all the components together for the dio I will try to post it. I am currently doing changing dios using glass cases from Michael's Arts & Crafts store. My figures rotate from their normal large glass display case to these temporary dios since space is an issue. Unfortunately I have not photo documented the first ones but will try to remedy that soon. I currently have the following dios: 8th Army in the Desert, American Rangers and the D-Day landing, Civil War hospital, Civil War campsite, Death of Wolfe at Quebec, American Continental Marines vs British Grenadiers. I have one empty case that will be for a Battle of the Bulge Winter scene. I will likely do most new dios for desert or winter subjects since these are my favorite subjects and my special areas of collecting.
