1st Legion figures with Hudson & Allen (1 Viewer)

The fake fur style mats currently available can be challenging if you are not careful. Although careful placement may be enough, I would use a thumbtack pushed through from under the mat as it will not damage the mat and only place a very small hole in the bottom surface of the wall.
If you were to create a 90 degree corner with the walls and use a short length (1/2") of wire to push the two walls together at the pillars the they would also be stable anywhere on the mat.
These walls could also be white washed below the tile copings for a different look.
Hope this helps,
Ken

Earlier I had mentioned white washed or painted brick walls. I thought I would try this finish on one of the damaged brick walls for a Stalingrad feel. Here are the results...

On one side I put a couple of Soviet posters to help place it.

A close up of the poster that basically states that you should keep your mouth shut and your eyes open... the walls have ears! I couldn't resist it on a brick wall.

I hope you enjoy,

Hi Ken,

I can say it enough Love your work! The white wash/painted brick really pops! Looks like a lot of the brick work you see over here.

Mr Ken
Really like the white ;) also Great photography skills ..thanks for posting ..are you going to offer the white ones on your site ?? come on ya must admit FL have the best WWII German figures available :D sorry had to slip that one in . All the best Gebhard

Gebhard,
All of the walls that I have shown with additional painting or posters are for sale. White washed walls can be special ordered also, so please feel free to inquire!

... and I can understand your appreciation for what I think is a very high quality production paint job on these figures. For those collectors that do not paint figure kits or sculpt their own, they are an excellent choice.

Pm Sent and thanks for the quick reply ;) I must admit all my figures are displayed in cases or under glass domes but I'm getting inspired by products yours included and by some of the guys beautiful displays and photography on this forum . I'm thinking of making a dio :D

I'm not sure what you are implying buy saying "For those collectors that do not paint figure kits or sculpt their own, they are an excellent choice" as I don't think its a prerequisite not to do your own sculpting or painting to be able to appreciate the quality of First Legions products ;) I would think that it would be in most cases that if you have talent yourself it easier to spot the talent in others in this case the fine craftsmen and women at First Legion ;) I don't know any sculptors but I do know several gentlemen who paint figure kits some are very good and a few are Great . Most have said when they are not doing their own work that they prefer the realism both in the detail of the sculpt and the fine paint job on First Legion products when buying ready made figures :) unless of course they are buying them for the purpose of painting over . All the best Gebhard

Hello there,
I just noticed this last posting and my comment about the Heer figures is a compliment. I personally do not collect large ranges of any one thing, and my tastes are somewhat eclectic.
Most of the people I know that have very particular tastes and high expectations paint or sculpt their own figures and rarely buy any pre-decorated items.
This group is obviously not the target audience for any of the pre-decorated figure and vehicle manufacturers.

Here is a more precise explanation for my compliment:

I have been in this industry for some time now and understand how difficult quality control can be with the offshore factories.
Lack of quality control can make or break a product no matter how good the original sculpt or paint master is.

Distortion of a casting from poor material choices, over clamping of the production molds and poor assembly can ruin a product before it is ever cleaned and primed.
Sloppy paint, inconsistent paint, and poor finish coating will compromise even a good casting based on a good sculpt.

No matter how talented the Russian artists are in creating the mold and paint masters, the resulting production product as sold to the customers could be poor if there was not have a high standard of quality control.

In my opinion, the most consistent paint and finish available to collectors at the moment are the products from John Jenkins Designs and 1st Legion. They may be a different style, but they are more consistent than most other products at the moment.
I am sure that this quality of casting and finish is not only a result of the clients needs, but because the manufacturing facility has a well managed and talented staff of craftspeople.

This combination of good research, patterning and master painting combined with a high quality factory production is a winning combination. This is providing the modern collector of pre-decorated products with some excellent choices from several manufacturers.
All the Best!
Ken
