1st Light Car Patrol - colour images & info from John (1 Viewer)

Reading the book with lots of images 'Light Car Patrols 1916-19' has doubled my passion to collect John's outstanding vehicles and than some. Good on you John for producing once again something quite unique. :salute::, Robin.

Hi,
Does anybody know if the Rolls Royce Armoured cars would have patrolled with the Model T Fords?

Thanks

Pete

Yes they did Pete, very often in the Western desert, although heavier and more prone to bogging down than the lighter Ford. The Rolls was heavily armoured, while the Ford's were often stripped down to the basics. A patrol could consist of 6 Rolls and 2 units of 6 Ford's, plus some additional supply trucks and the odd dispatch motor bike. Quite a convoy at times charging across the desert. Robin.

Something like this......:salute:::salute:::salute::

I forgot you had these AC. You are way ahead of the game. These look great. You have a great collection. Robin.

Artillery Crazy's vehicle is the Rolls Royce tender? As opposed to the armoured car.

Hi Scott,

Yes it is a Rolls Tender....they had both at the car patrol!....
The armoured cars are covered in the second set of pictures.....
I am also very curious to see how John´s new releases will match up to these sets I have from the late Toy Army Workshop War in the Desert theme.....:salute:::salute::

Thanks Robin. Very impressed with both vehicles. A dispatch motorbike? That would be good as well!

Pete
