There are 2 new 1/35 scale Tiger I's coming out. One is a Cyber hobby version, the other is a regular release.

The CH version is in Panzer grey. The regular release looks very nice in panzer grey with white camoflage.

If i get chance later i'll post some pictures.

James where do you get your Dragon armor as far as dealer?Toy Fed is advertising the pre-order on the regular Tiger 1/35 release at a pretty high price. I was just wondering if anyone has a cheaper dealer out there. I know Leadman suggested Atlantic Toys before but I don't see anyone else listing this for pre-order. I also have the new Panther, two Stugs with side-skirts and one Nashorn to order so its going to be expensive. Hobby house of toys is the cheapest so far for the 1/72 items. The Motor Pool will probably have these items but there prices are way out there.
Help guys!!

I got the first one from Monkey Depot for $60 I think. I recall that Battle Rhino was $5 cheaper.

I don't collect these but I'm curious as to what a cyber hobby version is. Is that something just available to web customers?

"Cyber-Hobby" or Cyber-Hobby.com was started by Universal Models Limited in Hong Kong and produces very limited edition versions of Dragon 1/6 figures, models and kits. Universal Models Ltd. also started Dragon Models Ltd. and Concord Publications Co. Besides the web, I believe Cyber-Hobby versions are available in certain hobby and toy stores.:)

I have never seen any Dragon's and I have a few questions. I did spend some time looking a a couple of web sites and found that they are between $75 and $100 each (depending on the model and the site); and, they come in basically 1/144, 1/72, and 1/35 with what appears to me to be the largest selection of models in 1/72.

Are they plastic, metal, or something else? They look really super. How do they compare with say Minichamps or the Master Modeler series from Tamyia? How heavy are they?

Minichamps 1/35 tanks beat every other manufacturer including Dragon and King and Country as far as detail goes and the armoured vehicles are almost entirely metal and rather heavy. The Dragon 1/35 tanks usually have a plastic turret but the detail is ok, although I reckon they are somewhat overpriced considering the amount of plastic. I don't collect 1/35 scale but if I did I would concentrate on Minichamps when cheap enough, with a few select Dragons. I suspect Dragon will churn our more and more 1/35 plastic-diecast models as they tend to over produce stuff.

Dragon 1/72 tanks now have more plastic than they used to have with either a plastic turret and cast hull or visa versa. However they are well detailed and cheap and go well with their (and Corgi's) 1/72 aircraft range.

First off I agree with Oz in the fact that Minichamps are way beyond what the Dragon tanks are in the 1/35 scale. I purchased the first issue and have pre-ordered this latest Winter paint scheme. Hopefully Dragon will not just keep pumping out the re-paints that has plagued the 1/72 line. They have put out more King Tigers than the Germans put out for the whole war.Almost! Case in point the release for the Dragon Expo 06 is a King Tiger repaint. Boo!! The 1/72 line is very well detailed for the scale as are the 1/144 Can-do line. The latest 1/72 Hummel and Nashorn are amazing. Now in regards to die cast they are not. The plastic content along with the price has gone up with the diecast content on the decline. If you shop around the latest Stug with side skirts is around $15.00. Not bad considering and it comes in a small plastic display case.
I have dealt with many dealers in the past and have now switched to Burbanks House of Hobbies. Battle Rhino and Monkey Depot,Atlantic Toys are others worth checking. Also George at Minute Man used to carry them but I'm not sure if he still does.
The Cyber Hobby thing was not worth my time. They were always sold out in a matter of days of release and the ordering process and shipping I found to be an issue. I usually ebayed what I needed or wanted. Some exclusives were good but repaints and re-issues to say the least.
All and all the 1/72 line is worth picking up a few of the tanks for display.I have a whole curio dedicated to this stuff. German half tracks are coming or promised but as of yet no Allied armor. Once again Dragon if your listening how about starting with some Allied stuff to game against this massive German onslaught you have.

It's tricky to compare the Minichamps Tiger with The Dragon 1/35 Tiger. I have the first issue Minichamps Tiger I and it's a fantastic piece and extremely heavy. It just looks factory fresh.
However the Dragon Tiger I is far more detailed with an actual interior and opning hatches, recoiling barrel etc.

Both are worth having and give you something different.
