2007 New York Toy Soldier Symposium (1 Viewer)

Louis I dont know if this would be an option or not but if you have high speed internet at your house I have a laptop with a built in webcam and mic with a 50ft internet cable.

If I brought this we could broadcast Andy's talk at your house over the internet to our friends that are unable to attend in person. People would need to have a yahoo ID, which is free, and they could watch, listen and ask questions of Andy. Also since its a laptop we could walk around with the cam and show people the museum via video.

Just an idea.....isnt technology great!

Great IDEA. You guys are going to have a ball. It was an hounor to have a 1 on 1 tour with Louis and a privalge to play with Alec and chill with Meradith in the attic room.

Great benchs to chill and talk soldiers!

I left Louis a copy of a UK based magazine Toy Soldier Collector that he had not seen before so make sure you ask to have alook.

you guys are going to have a ball and the food that has been chosen is well WOW is the best way to explain it. Wish there could be a Neville there on the day but holding the fort and Wedding anniversarys have got in the way this year.

regards

Tony

Brian,

I have highspeed internet, and I think a 50 ft cable will at least get you into the museum. My laptop is wireless, and I have a wireless network functioning in my house, so maybe that can also help.

Tony,

It was such a pleasure having you and Jane over. I hope you can come visit again soon!

I would suggest go wired instead of wireless which will have less latency.

I am amazed by the advances in technology in the last 15 years. A webcast from my home, and me a guy who had never even touched a computer before lawschool!

Have you heard about the lawyers and their computers:confused:
No matter what font you select, everything comes out in fine print:p :) :)

I hope Andy has some more information on how those Battle of Britain ME110s will be made available for sale.

Michael--that one made me laugh out loud :p . Luckily no one else was here to notice!

Why don't you try out your lawyer jokes the next time you need a lawyer?

Hay Brad, lighten up:p

I work almost daily with an attorney. Where do you think I get the jokes from?

made it to the jersey show yesterday, made a few purchases, but more importantly put faces with the names on this forum. met mr. badalota and andy. met and only spoke with brad for a few moments, wish i had more time, a really nice guy. shannon and pete are two of the nicest people i've ever met. had a long conversation with george of minutemen, very informative time. last, and least, hopefully it will stay that way, capitalron- 'nuff said.

Pugio

The name is CAPITOLRON - if you going to be insulting at least do it with the correct spelling.

Funny, I thought we had a good & friendly conversation?

Well, in the spirit of my new life here on the forum - I wish you well my friend.

Warm Regards, Ron

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you all for coming, watching the webcast, and making this year's Symposium such a success. We had around 25 people at the dinners, and 32 people for the luncheon at my house, making this the biggest and best Sympoium yet.

Next year's will be even bigger and better, as big time collector Mark Hoffman has asked to sponsor a tour of his incredible (6,000 toy soldiers, mostly artillery related) collection and luncheon the Monday after the next symposium.

I am already looking forward to next year's Symposium, but, as Andy said he might be visiting New York over the summer, keep this thread open - there may be a second (probably mini) Symposium in the summer! I will keep in touch with Andy, and if he gives me firm dates, we will let you all know.

Regards,

Hans, Larry & Louis

Louis

Great Job - you, Hans and Larry were the perfect hosts - truely a Wonderful Event. Thank you for everything.

Ron

Hey Louis, did you have any luck with lobbying Andy about ground crew, bowsers etc?

Rob

So i'm thinking if YOUR a happy man, at some point I'LL be a happy man?!
(if i'm right thanks Louis!)
Rob

I think all aricraft and airfield afficionados have a lot to look forward to from K&C. Does that make you happy Rob?

It really does Louis,it really does.I know no facts are available yet,but do you think airfield vehicles, crews etc would be available to all or ltd eds?.

Rob

Andy made it pretty clear that there would be studio produced aircraft which, since the studio producing them was only a three man outfit, would necessarily be limited to 20 or less of each aircraft produced. These superior and incredibly detailed aircraft will begin at $595 for a single engine plane and go up from there.

On the other hand there would be factory produced aircraft which, while not quite as detailed as the studio versions, would still be far superior to earlier K&C warbirds (and have clear canopies and interior cockpit detail like the studio planes). These would only be limited by the number of orders Andy received, would come with figures (the first will have 3 figures), and would be far less expensive than the studio planes (the range discussed was between $199 and $299).

All of the separately sold sets of pilot figures, ground crew figures, vehicles and airfield accessories will be factory produced and will be sold as regular production items in quantity and at regular K&C prices.
