Hi - I was wondering if anyone who went to the London show asked if there would be a club figure and what would it be?

Also wondering if John is just sitting at the booth chatting or is he working on stuff? He mentioned to me that the travel really takes it's toll on him and he heads up to Wales right after the show. So I would think that just sitting there, jet lag might set in. I know it would do for me.

Back on the lub figure idea - I would not mind that ADC on horse as the 2011 club figure, but it could be the Roger's Ranger figure too.

Any thoughts?

Matthew

I think this was first Combat's idea, but George Washington in a long red coat for Monongahela is the figure I want to see.

Has John had an interest in doing Washington in the Red coat? I agree that would be nice to see, maybe even as a club figure for the year, not necessarily "the" 2011 club figure.

I spoke to John in an email a while back, he said he did have plans for Washington on horseback in red coat for next year as a club figure. :)

Hi Matthew,
I believe both of these figures are the club figures for 2011. You will have the choice of either or both.

Pete...did he tell you that personally...

I would have guessed he would not introduce another 1812 figure (Capt. John Jenkins of the Glengarry Light Infantry, "The Hero Of Ogdensburg") as a membership figure or a Club figure again...

I seem to recall him being a little unhappy in his choice of the previous 1812 "special figure" release...as most of his early fans were FIW collectors...

on top of that...a "mounted figure" would be a little more pricey than a "foot figure"...

now...the Ranger figure...that's a possibility...

but if he told you that personally...then it's Gospel...

Pete...I'm sure you're right then...I think the mounted ADC will be a pricey piece...but I want it badly...he looks splendid...gotta be a the better part of a hundred dollar bill...I'm curious to see how it will sell as a club figure...

Mike..The Captain Robert Orme sold for £40 (whatever that is in $s) so I would guess approx £50 or $75.

Pete...

it was $58 stateside...but that was Sept 2008...

Stewart was $60 here...that was Jan 2009...

if you're good with formulas or trends...

you might can guess the price...

it may be $75...but I'm guessing a little less...

honestly...not that pricey for a Club figure...

in the past the 2 piece Club sets have been about that much...

I'm just surprised he would do an 1812 for a Club figure...

but I'm glad...I love him...hahaha...I'm gonna get it.

Michael, I too want that ADC figure, ever since you showed that image. I just love the horse. I am not an 1812 collector, but I will get this one. I don't collect snowshoes either, though I like them. So last year's club sets I only got the club figure, but not the sets.

Don't get me wrong I liked them all, just not what I collect.

HI MIKE....
I dont think they are club figures, Rogers could be for St.Francis or
Ticonderoga. The mounted fig. for 1812. He has never shown 2 Collector figs.
at once as far as I remember, could be wrong.

"Manitous" Aurele Desbien...my friend...it doesn't matter to me...whether it's a Club figure or a general release...hahaha...I am so happy to see an aide de camp for the Battle of Chippewa...anybody of aide or officer status...I'm just happy to get it...I have been begging, hinting, pleading/whining for an officer's set for 1812 for some time now...JJ was very kind to make this figure...he would be perfect in a behind the scenes officer's meeting...

if JJ made an aide de camp...it's very logical that he is planning a senior officer for this figure to attend to...and hopefully a small grouping (hopefully 5-6) of officers...

on another note...

has the new Ranger figure been labeled as Robert Rogers by JJ?

both of John's earlier Frontline Robert Rogers and his Snow Shoe's Robert Rogers are clean shaven...

there is no known sketch or portrait of Robert Rogers...I have no problem with him having a beard in this new rendition...

if it is him...

I'm just curious if JJ told someone that this figure with the beard is another Robert Rogers...

I agree, I dont think these will be club figures. And I also think that ranger figure is not Robert Rogers.

The WWI Aces would be perfect for club figures. There are many personalities to choose from and collectors have the option to mix and match for display with various aircraft.

For Snowshoes, how about the hard fighting and drinking Lt. James Pottinger of the 44th? A veteran of Monongahela and the War of Austrian Succession. From "War on the Run":

"the rangers represented his last chance to keep a commission that he had forfeited by being 'rendered intirerly unfit for Service by Drink,' as Loudoun noted with harsh Scots directness, which says something in an army - and society - where hard drinking was the norm. Pleading for a second chance, Pottinger wrote Loudoun that a camp woman had 'led him into such a habit of drinking, that not only affected [my] understanding, but likewise [my] health, to such a degree, as to almost deprive [me] of the use of [my] limbs."

I can't get on board that a WWII Ace would be a good Club figure...:(

if you don't buy his planes...you probably wouldn't buy an Ace...

I'm hoping he will stay inside the FIW...or even 1812, Culloden or Sudan...

I like your idea for Pottinger though, let's get him before his over boozed limbs fall off due to the "camp woman's bad influence"...

but honestly...I thought JJ was finished with Snow Shoes...though I hope he's not...

but if he keeps doing Snow Shoes...

and this is far fetched...I'm sticking with Beaubien and Capt. Stark......

and if he can't do Beaubien for Snow Shoes...

maybe we can get him for St. Francis...which would probably be more appropriate...

Hey, they had dogs in WWI too. ;) Here is a German messenger dog leaping a trench and the Baron w/Moritz.

Aaaaaaaaaah...

but Beaubien was definitely a celebrity in the FIW...

I feel like he is one of the missing pieces to this puzzle...

he's bigger than Rin Tin Tin...hahaha...

he would look great in a diorama...

JJ had talked to me about this wolf a while back, he said he had other guys begging for it too...he told me he had started one some time ago...but was unhappy with the scale...I saw a prototype of a wolf on a picture he sent me...he looked good to me...I don't know what happened...I'm still hoping he will finish it...

this is a larger than life charater...a wild wolf that was enlisted as a sergeant and received sergeant's pay from the British Army...that's pretty cool...

On the rugged New World frontier, settlers soon found the native canine--the wolf--was much better suited to the harsh conditions than some of the favorite breeds brought from Europe. Their experiments in crossbreeding resulted in pups that retained many of the wolf's characteristics and made hearty companions. One day while out hunting, William Stark encountered one of these wolf / dogs being beaten by a French officer. Stark reproached the action, then fought with the Frenchman and killed him. Stark and the wolf / dog, which he named Sergeant. Beaubien, went on to share many more hunting ventures, as well as years of service together for Rogers Rangers.

Sergeant Beaubien by John Buxton
(Roger's Rangers)

This group of Rogers Rangers are located on ground overlooking Lake George, New York which stretches Northward behind them. Captain Robert Rogers' men scout deeply within enemy territory supplying the latest intelligence of French activity and their daring hit-and-run tactics not only delivered great annoyance to the enemy but also boosted English spirits.

Experienced Ranger lieutenants are briefing several new cadets and a volunteer from the 42nd Highlanders, as to the basic rules outlined by Capt. Rogers - rules still employed by Ranger forces today. Among the Ranger "cadets" in the fall of 1756 is William Stark, brother of Ranger Captain John Stark, with his wolf/dog Sergeant Beaubien. At one point throughout their history, Stark entered the wolf/dog into the official Ranger muster roll to draw a Sergeant's rations and pay. It has been said that Sergeant Beaubien scared off his share of the enemy and was well deserving of his pay.

I can see John definitely doing some club figures for the WWI release, but from a marketing side, I think he needs to offer most pilots as standard releases for future collectors. Maybe figures for a high level staff or planning scene would be appropriate for a club release?

Lets face it, this release has the potential to offer a wide variety of figures, buildings, scenes and secondary items. Within months, I predict that people will be clamoring for fuel trucks, a mechanic's shed, ground crews, and bar maids instead of what is really needed ---- a FIW blacksmith shop!!! :D:D
