2011 club figure (1 Viewer)

Please remember dogs are not necessarily an easy sell to toy soldier collectors. About 2 years ago, K&C released a figure set with a dog and the outcry on the K&C forum about how "ugly" that dog was is legendary.

You can make a butt ugly soldier, but any dog better be a damm good looking mutt. :p :p :p

I can sense a POLL coming soon!!!

Now that is the truth. I have the K&C WW2 set with the dog and it is not even to scale. Just tossed in as an extra bit I think. Poorly done.

I think John will have a dog one day in a set. I think the main problem is that he is not allowed to have dogs where he lives. :D

Oh I don't know about that. I've heard you can get them from almost any menu. ;)

For club figures in 2011, I'd still like to see John do the great Shawnee chief Tecumseh. He could be nicely paired with a figure of his brother Tenskwatawa (the Prophet). This could work for collectors of the War of 1812 series and those who just like the way John portrays Native Americans. - Ken

Ken...Chief Red Jacket would be a good one for this series too...he was definitely at Chippewa...

Yes Mike, Red Jacket would be a good choice with ties to the 1812 series as it is now. I guess Tecumseh really wouldn't fit anywhere unless John expands the series beyond the Niagara campaign.

Ken...

Tecumseh was a total badazz...he was battle hardened at a young age...he would make a great figure...I would put him with my Royal Scots in a second and never look back...he had the greatest quote...

"No tribe has the right to sell [land], even to each other, much less to strangers.... Sell a country!? Why not sell the air, the great sea, as well as the earth? Didn't the Great Spirit make them all for the use of his children?" And, "....the only way to stop this evil [loss of land] is for the red man to unite in claiming a common and equal right in the land, as it was first, and should be now, for it was never divided."

Hi - I was wondering if anyone who went to the London show asked if there would be a club figure and what would it be?

Also wondering if John is just sitting at the booth chatting or is he working on stuff? He mentioned to me that the travel really takes it's toll on him and he heads up to Wales right after the show. So I would think that just sitting there, jet lag might set in. I know it would do for me.

Back on the lub figure idea - I would not mind that ADC on horse as the 2011 club figure, but it could be the Roger's Ranger figure too.

Any thoughts?

Matthew

I Guessed Right!!!!! - And that was a wild stab in the dark - too bad I don't win a prize :(

I agree, I dont think these will be club figures. And I also think that ranger figure is not Robert Rogers.

Okay - now that we know that they both are the club figures, I am wondering which one, or both are folks getting. If I had to choose only one, it would be the ADC - I just really like this sculpt. And I don't collect his 1812 range. So that means I'll get the both of them, though I don't really need two calendars. I don't have any Ranger figures yet, so I'll be going for this one.

Anyone else getting both? Last year was a bust for me with the 1812 figure I thought was okay, then to be followed up by all snowshoe sets. At least this year I have two club figures I like. And 2009 was fantastic for me, but I know that there needs to be some shared around for the club sets. It would be nice to have a Sudan club set this year.
