2011 Tour de France (2 Viewers)

I can't believe the finish. Holy cow!!!! Voeckler looked like he was going to die when he crossed the line but he holds yellow for another day...

What a stage this was.....{eek3}

I think this is the most punishing stage of the tour I have seen, especially the last few km up the Col du Galibier.

Hats off to Thomas Voeckler, Cadel Evans and Andy Schleck for gutsy rides.

One more day in the Alps tomorrow.....

Raymond.:)

Tomorrow is going to be equally hard if not harder. I wonder if Voeckler and Schleck did to much damage to themselves today but we'll see.

What an exciting race!

As you said, what nice race, the highest Col is about 2700 meters above sea level and those guys are able to keep this pace after almost 3 weeks of non-stop race...{eek3}

I still stand that nobody is real clean to be able to this on this kind of pace....

Clean as legal per this years regulations with just one positive test so far in this race in the world's most drug tested sport. Contador sure looks like he is riding clean this year though as in human but then again maybe the Tour of Italy zapped him yet Basso is riding pretty strong. All in all, a great stage today and a great Tour this year. Wait till a majority of these teams show up in Colorado for the week long race there in the mountains come August. Tomorrow should be fun to watch especially with the brotherly 1-2 punch and a gutsy Aussie & Frenchman!

Allez Plus Vite,
Marc

Haven't been able to follow the Tour too well since I can't get Verus where I am; relying on news reports. Based on what I read in the BBC looks like the gap for Contador is too large with three stages to go.

Marc, belated thanks for the links.

Contador is on the attack, Evans had some bike trouble, Frank Schleck went into the red zone and dropped back, Andy Schleck is on Contador and Voeckler is riding with them to retain yellow.

Absolutely amazing. Voeckler doesn't when to stop racing! He's got heart and courage, thats for sure.

Thomas Voeckler has done his country proud with his sheer grit and determination.

Voeckler's ride in the yellow jersey is over and he may not make the podium in Paris.....but he is walking tall and a winner in his own right.

Raymond:)

Couldn't agree more, what a sportsman. Have only been watching the Tour for about four years now, but absolutely love it, totally hooked!^&cool

I have not watched the Tour de France this closely in five years. The doping issues of the 2006 Tour were a bit much, so I gave up. Well, I have slowly crept back with the hope the sport has been significantly (not completely) cleaned up.

It would be a great disappointment if any of the top contenders in this year's Tour test positive for any banned substance. Then, I would have to eat some of my posts.^&grin:tongue:

Now for a weekend in Paris.....

So, I hear there's a bill in Australia for Cadell Evans day.

Brilliant ride.

Guys,
The boy from the little beach side restort town of Ocean Grove, Victoria has done his Country PROUD. Go Aussie, Go. Makes me want to get the bike out of the shed. I haven't competed from nearly 30 years.
Cheers from a Proud Victorian, Howard{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Well done Cadell Evans, congrats to him and all the Aussie tour supporters.

But also big congratulations to Mark Cavendish 'The Manx Missile' for a superb Green jersey win, no one really came close, this guy is now just two stages of the record number of sprint stage wins.

Rob
