2017 Chicago Show (1 Viewer)

To follow up what Andy mentioned, being the new guy on the block at this year's Chicago show I certainly felt welcomed as a toy soldier collector, now I have no clue what went on in years past so this is the only show I can base my opinion on...but the large banners, signs made me feel right at home with the hotel and the staff, the layout was super easy to figure out, once I arrived Friday I went to my room on the 4th floor and upon exiting the elevators had 2 long tables with tons of information from companies represented at the show as well as a easy run of the 4th and 5th floors, as I mentioned in another thread the dealers, buyers, collectors there were about as nice a people as you can find, it was great to chat with some of the treefrog gang all be it rather quickly as there was always something else to see or go, and the rooms I visited be it old plastics, new metal etc. seemed to have people coming in and going out all the time so it looked to be good crowds but then again I have nothing to compare it to, my only complaint is I did not give myself enough time, to much to do and see flying in late Friday, if I'm lucky to go next year I'll certainly give myself more time. so to me it was a awesome show!!!!!!!!!!!! bought some new toy soldiers, met a few forum friends, made some new friends along the way, can't get much better then that. :)

My first show was a great experience for me. Met a lot of nice people and came out with some great deals on items I wanted. I made it there Saturday and Sunday. There was more people than I expected and I spent more than I should have but I'll be returning next year for sure.

Once I can finish maneuvering the maze of boxes and tote unloaded in my office and the warehouse I promise to upload a few more photos with people in them! I'll add to the TF Facebook page and thread I started for us.
If you agreed to be in a photo with me....you are fair game for being posted!!! ^&grin

I have been going to this show every year since 2000. Enjoyed it very much . It is the only show I attend. I got there Wednesday afternoon and had to leave Saturday night. For me the action and fun is the room trading , spending time with dealers and fellow collectors . I got to tag along with a group of collectors and dealers on a craft beer run Wednesday night . Thanks to Don Plein for organizing it. And Ray Haradin for the 'ticket' . To me that was one if the best times I have had at this show in a dozen years . The friendship & commaradrie .
Not to many places you can go and hang out with a fine group of folks and flat out yak about this hobby for ours for hours on end. I also attended the Britains / Treefrog / Sierra dinner at bahama breeze Friday night . Had a good time there too.

And of yeah added a few things to my collection along the way. I encourage all to attend this show and support the wonderful hobby. I too have heard the show was off a little this year from a few collectors . I talked to George today and he told me it was one if his best years he has had there in sometime. I did not pay too much attention to that , I was hanging out and running down some items for my collection. Had a great time.

See you folks next year ...Greg
