2018 Texas Toy Soldier Show Flyer (2 Viewers)

Howdy,

Well it looks like we have confirmed dates for San Antonio's 2018
Texas Toy Soldier Show.More to follow soon enough !

Hi,
As a matter of interest ,I have noticed that the colour flyers used to advertise the show come from the "Buffalo Bill wild west annual " published in the UK from 1949 to about 1961. This period covered some of my childhood and I still have all of these annuals. They were written by Arthur Groom and the brilliant illustrations are by Denis McLoughlin. The later publications were made up of factual stories and awakened a life long interest in the American West.I was able to visit San Antonio as part of a general visit to "The West" in 1990.

I've never been to a toy soldier show and I live in Dallas. This should make it a 4-5 hour drive (depending on Traffic). Even though I don't know anyone I am thinking of attending. About how many square feet is it and how many tables? Is it really a two-day event?

thanks

The Texas show is set up in a large ballroom with an additional display room added as well. You can expect 120 + Dealer
tables at this show. Saturday is 7 hours (10:00 am - 5:00 pm) and Sunday (11:00am - 3:00pm) Add in you have the
KingsX Toy soldier shop also located in the Menger Hotel within steps of the Hotel front desk. Yes it is 2 days, it is Big
and it is a bunch of Fun all around. This will be my 5th year. Well worth the trip.Hope this helps !

Howdy STG44:

Jump on I-35 this May and come check out the show! You will not be disappointed.

The Texas Show really is a TWO day event with 5000 sq. ft. of toy soldiers, dioramas, books, and artwork. Wayne is right, we book 120+ tables and its well worth the trip. Of course I am biased, but the show is unlike any other. The Texas Show is located inside the historic Menger Hotel ballroom which is across the street from The Alamo. Putting the show in the heart of downtown San Antonio gives collectors the opportunity to make this a family trip. There is a variety of delicious dining options downtown along with the Briscoe Western Art Museum, historic Market Square, San Fernando Cathedral, the Spanish Governor's palace, the Shops at Rivercenter and of course the Riverwalk. The river taxis will now take visitors up to the "museum reach" where you can visit the San Antonio Museum of Art, the newly renovated Witte Museum, the Doseum, the San Antonio Zoo, Japanese Tea Gardens and Brackenridge park.

The Menger Hotel offers the incredible rate of $109 per night for those coming in for The Texas Show!

If you have any questions, please call or email me. Hope to be seeing you in May!

STG44 mate,
You are so lucky to live only 4-5 hours drive from beautiful San Antonio. If I live that close I would be there every year with "Bells On". 17 Hours flying time from Melbourne to LA and then another 3 hours down to Texas is a long haul. The town is my favourite spot in all of the U.S.of A. The folks down there in Texas are so friendly and young Amber in conjunction with Andy and crew throw on one heck of a TS Show. Its a Hoot.
As a collector from Down Under who would love to be there, I say to you "DON'T MISS IT".{sm4}

Cheers Howard

Howard...enjoyed your company the year you came on your America Tour....would love to see you again...

Thanks everyone. I have never been to a toy soldier show and only collect sporadically. Most of my toy soldiers are Britains left over from childhood.

I think I may give this show a try.

Today I booked my flight and the hotel ^&grin
Will be arriving on Friday afternoon and leaving Monday morning.
Something on the calendar now to look forward to :wink2:
