Broke out some of my most recent additions to my collection and put them in a small display, loosely based on the French attack on the Russian left flank at Borodino.............

In addition to French forces, there are also Wurttemburgers and Westphalians opposing the Russians. This is a smaller version of a much larger diorama I plan on doing..............

George great display as always! Oh and I love the understated "small" display. Would really love to see what you call a big display...

Thanks for sharing

Understood; just a 4 by 4, prepping for a 10 by 5 version of the Russian left flank at Borodino.....................I'm working on another one right now, will post pictures soon, this one is the action around the Hartenstein Hotel at Oosterbeek................

Amazing, George. Did you paint these?

Thanks Andreas, glad you like it.

I haven't painted any of my own figures for awhile, I've got two great painters I use now, one from China that I found on Ebay, another from the Uk, both paint figures full time, both are excellent....................

Great looking redoubt and gun pits George. I need to make those for my 28mm. One of your pix reminds me of the Russian version of War and Peace as I saw it at about 11 . I had no idea what it was about but it astonished me. That Helped Warp me into the figure whore I am today.
That and The Vikings, Spartacus, Longest day. All fouled me up.
You inspire me George. I have battalions of Jagers, Batteries , Hussars and Cossack's that must be tended too.

Here come some French for the assault!

Thanks Scott, glad you like it. Speaking of War and Peace; I too saw it when I was about 11, the one thing that always stayed with me was the sweeping overhead shots of the battlefield, mixed in with that wounded Russian with the bandaged face, I had no clue what was going on either, but it looked awesome as a kid.

Thanks for the kind words regarding inspiration, I'm humbled truth be told, especially when I look at you massive efforts in 28mm, talk about museum quality.

For me, nothing beats this little hobby of ours.................NOTHING..............................

NOTHING is right. I've been lucky, got to do many incredible things in the outdoors, great family, good job , the works. Just blessed all around, even if I *****ed sometimes.. But, my ONE activity I am simply DRIVEN by is these dang little people. Always has been since my 1st bag of cowboys and Indians I guess. Is driven the right word? Or a more clinical description?! Either way, we have a ton of fun doing it and great satisfaction turning our obsession into wonderful pieces of art. Yup, I say ART. This effort George , is a masterpiece in my book.

Great paint jobs, the plumes, trim, etc. Can't beat the close ups of the massed horse charges. Great job George. Chris

This nails it for me.

I enjoy so many little aspects of this hobby; I enjoy surfing the internet looking for inspiration for my next project, ideas if you will that I can translate into a battle scene. I also enjoy buying wargaming scenario booklets and looking for maps and layouts of battles that I can replicate with my collection.

I also like how my interests change from ACW to Napoleonics to WWII and back again, it can be the littlest thing; a painting, a documentary or a movie on TV, a recent book I've read or seeing someone elses work and being inspired to duplicate it.

As with others, one thing I continue to go back to is the memories of my youth and things that tripped my trigger back then; one thing that always inspired me were the Greenspan maps in the American Heritage book on the American Civil War, loved to look at those battlefield maps with all the little figures on it, a birds eye view from above if you will.

Every time I create one of these, the two things I love doing are looking down on the scene like it's a Greenspan map and looking at if from ground level and seeing all the troops, terrain and the like............................

Yup, this is awesome fun on so many levels.

Thanks for your comments on my effort; those words humble me my friend.
