Heres some pics of a Napoleonic table diorama I made some years ago now, all figures are 28mm big enough to paint quite detailed but small enough for a large diorama.

 That is quite the display John and those figures are beautifully painted. It must have taken you some time to paint and create that diorama.

Excellent stuff! And very nicely painted figures, are these Front Rank or Foundry? Brings back fond memories of my wargaming days. Do you wargame with these or are they just for display?

Jeff

Most impressive painting and display. How long did that take you to complete?

Hi Beating Retreat,

You have created a truly outstanding diorama! It is a joy to view. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

that is top notch dio building you get 10 out of 10 and a Koala stamp :D

Wow! Fantastic work! How long did it take to complete the display?

Does 28mm scale out to 1/72, or HO scale, or another scale altogether?

Prost!

This is an impressive piece of work. I am sure many many hours were spent creating this masterful diorama.

I would think the nearest scale would be US O scale 1:48 or S scale which is 1:64.

Brad,

They are a bit bigger, works out at roughly 1/58th.

I remember when wargame figures started with 20mm scale then 25mm became popular then large 25mm became the thing and now the majority of makers have move to 28mm. The figures in my diorama are mainly 28mm but there is a sprinkling of 25mm. To answer Jeffs question about manufacturers the collection is made up of Hinchliffe, Essex and Wargames foundry (large 25mm), Greenwood and Ball, Minifigs (25mm) the rest are 28mm. The diorama is fitted into a large coffee table which a friend of mine made me and incidentally the wife does not like the table at all thats why its in my den, otherwise she would have it thrown out (not the soldiers ) Ive done no work on it for the last 7 years but had been building it for about 5 years on and off.
Regards john
Ps I do have some more pics of it if you guys would like to see them

Thought this pic might be interesting here is a 1/72 scale plastic & 28mm metal.
as you can se the 28mm are a little easier to paint and there is a great range.
of figures out there in 25/28mm plus all the new 28mm plastics :)
