Will 3 D sculpturing eventually take over from the "old fashion" hand sculpturing ? .... and if so......would the "REAL".... TS figures gain in value ?....TomB

What would some examples be of 3D sculpted figures?

I believe the head of this figure is 3 D sculpt....I have seen the figure in piece's and the head is photo perfect...I could be wrong.....I saw a doco ...maybe a year or so ago.....in which you send a photo of yourself....it is sculpt in a machine... a like a printing machine on your PC....you then put your sculpt head on one of the figure's on a soccer table game..or..whatever... ...I wonder how long before the major TS producers cop onto this source......TomB

It's frightening.....to me...all due respect.....it is very impressive ( the wrench).....but having seen so many people put out of work by PC's...I just hope history is not going to repeating itsself.........cheers TomB

Hi all,

Last evening, there was a reportage during the news on french channel. The journalist showed a printer and gave a price about 1500 € or 1983 USD. The industry use already this kind of material. A man explained how he had built pieces for a lamp. In fact, for the moment, you must use a 3d programm in order to create a model.
The journalist said he is posssible to manufacture artificial organs with this technology soon too. I think it will be possible in the near future, to reproduce (with an integrated scanner and control without the 3D) objects and certainly figures. What there is to fear most, beyond our hobby, is counterfeiting.

Faithfully

Hi Tom,

I did not think about it. The real problem is the reproduction pieces for cars (brake discs etc), medical supplies and equipment, piecess for aircraft, pieces for computers or phones and I forget. This kind of invention is an improvement and a technological revolution in the manufacture, however it may explode counterfeits and the dangers inherent in this problem.

Have a nice WE :smile2:
