40mm or 54mm? (2 Viewers)

Hi again,

here's a first picture of the 28mm elephant. It's still in the making, of course.

This is an old Hinchcliffe metal model from the 70s. Although the figures (mahout, 3 persian bowmen) are not very wll sculpted, I kind of liked the elephant... :)

Don't forget, this is my very first painting job.

Very good (nor only becorse it is your first job)!! - Besonders die Schattierung ist sehr gelungen! Übrigens würde ich mir auch wünschen, professionell bemalte 40mm figuren kaufen zu können; wobei die Presie vermutlich bei 80% einer bemalten 60mm Figur liegen würden.

I am currently painting 40mm figures that I use for wargaming.
I have not painted any of the FL 40MM figures yet, but they look excellent.
I would like to see them come out with shield decal sets for thier 40MM Crusader line. Painting shiled designs can be tricky.

I personally haven't seen any FL 40mm in real, since they are not readily available in Europe. There is one dealer, who only stocks a very limited range of them... .
To me the 40mm napoleonic from Perry are outstanding, because they don't look like cartoons, but real human beings.
Unfortunately, Perry's range is also very limited (e.g. no artillery).

Another great range of 40mm figures is available from Doug Miller miniatures. He produces german Landsknechts in very fine detail. Since I'm not spezialized in any eras, I have ordered a few samples of them. Maybe I'll even give it a shot and start painting them myself. Otherwise, I have found a guy in England who offered to paint my figures for me for a reasonable price.

Hi and Merry Christmas!

I was busy working on my elephant this afternoon, and now it's finished.

Here are some pictures.

Not bad at all for your first try and such a small scale at that.Just think you will only get better and better after each one.All the best and Merry Christmas.

Great job, Tom. You certainly picked a difficult subject to begin your painting career!!

The more figures you do, the more you learn and the better you get. It's a journey and not a destination.

Keep up the great work!!
