44th Regiment of Foot (1 Viewer)

The 44th has a long history of disastrous engagements.
1745- Pretonpans: Most of 5 companies captured, including the CO, Halkett
1755- Monongahela: heavy losses, including the CO, Halkett KIA
1815- New Orleans: heavy losses, routed from field
1842- Gandamak: basically wiped out
1916- July1 on the Somme: 1st & 2nd Battalions suffer heavy losses
A hard luck history for the Essex Regiment.

From the British Battles Page, Short Write Up Found in the Link Above.

Add to the Losses Ticonderoga: Abercromby vs. Montcalm in 1758.

But at least they won a few as well:

First Siege of Fort William Henry, March 1757 (Very Snowshoes Like with Big, Big Cannon in a Blizzard!!!!).
2nd Ticonderoga Campaign under Amherst, 1759.

Regardless, High Snazzy Factor!!!
