Fubar they look fantastic and your painting is top notch
I started getting into 54mm punic wars about two years ago i wanted to do a
battle of Zama but some how got side tracked (funny how that happens)
enjoying your pics
Cheers
Rob,

Nicely done! It looks like you're using washes to great effect, am I correct?

Prosit!
Bradley

Agree with Bradley- the washes look great- I am especially impressed by the shield designs and how crisp and clean that all looks. My guys typically run around with an all red or all blue shield.

Well done sir, very well done indeed!!

Harold,

I love that guy and when I finished him I gave him to my son. Do you have anymore for that series?

A little wash and some highlighting later. All start off primered dark grey and I paint from dark to light. Also , I use some windsor newton nut brown ink here and there and dry brush over that too.
When I painted the 25mm Ancients I used airbrush paint for shield designs.Nice and thin yet covered well.I need to get to town and buy some new brushes.Mine are about shot.Didnt even try and do plaid or more complicated designs.

Vamp, The Celtic Noble is the ONLY one i've painted! Theres Germanics,Gladiators,Imperial Romans too. I've had the molds for over a year now, cast hundreds of them and this guy is the only one I put a brush too.
More shame.

I have a Blackcat Germanic youth with ax and holding severed head.I'll paint him today, plus dig thru all the parts to see if I can make some more Celtic types.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Vamp, The Celtic line was never pursued any further than the Noble. I have to get off my duff and sculpt some more.Websites badly in need of updating too.
No Prussians or new French on there either.:( Guess I better find another webguy.
Heres a couple more I did last nite.Old and Young Germanic castings, I think they can pass for Celts. The young one is always getting in trouble with his mom for bringing heads home and dragging them into the hut.
Added a couple more to the Carthaginian Battle line too.54mm punic cartha.jpg

Starrted another 12 Romans too. Mail, shields and tunics have paint on them at least.

Fubar,

These are very nice, do you paint the shield designs or are they decals?

Jeff, I paint those on.Still need to replace some brushes but these turned out adequate. I wish I knew where there was some transfers for 54mm figs though!

FUB

Vamp, Probably. Better get off the mark and make arrangements.Cant believe how fast the days are going by. I'm likely to go just for fun and put little emphasis on peddeling troops until the day of the show itself.

More pix later tonite.

Fubar thats amazing how you do the shading i like the eyes
I think Andrea Miniatures do transfers i know they do Romans in 54mm so they
may have something.... not that you need them your shields look great
Rob,

I will have to see whats available for transfers. I knocked out some more cts Romans. Have other chores to do so I wont be adding anymore for a little while.
Thanks for all the kind words . I simply have a method that any of you can learn and do better quality than me. I've simply painted thousands of figs so It seems to go faster.

Well, you are doing a darn fine job!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff!

Heres some Hat Carthaginian Heavy mercenary foot I did last nite.
The Shields are stolen, fake , forged!
I found some images on the web, downloaded and printed them, cut'em out and GLUED to the shields.
Worked satisfactory for me! I paint the rim 1st and touch up a little afterwards.
Kind of fun!
I'll still paint shield designs, but I wanted to try this little experiment.

Those are great. Where did you download the designs?
