Holy Poop Catman! Fub, very nice. Problem with this hobby is so little time and so many interests.

Battle lasted about 4 hours total . Fun time on a hot summers nite.
Yes, I painted 90% of the troops, some years ago.
Had some more pix of 54mm ancients but the crew cleaned off my desk.Discs gone, so is my itenerary and phone contacts for cab ride from Ohare to Hyatt.
Heads will roll.
Off to pack the lat few things for OTSN and I'll shoot some more pix.

PS, Anybody have room at the Hyatt Thursday nite for a big hairy guy whose snoring sounds like Bigfoot ? No takers?

Uffda

Heres some Blackcat Barbarians{ distant relatives in miniature} I managed to finish. Plus a pair of Slingers.I call them genericus slingeticus, usefull for all kinds of armies.alphagermans2.jpg

Have a new Roman just about finished too.
I'm going to check out Pegusus Gladiators at OTSN. I feel a Spartacus army in the works.Since I have metal gladiators, romans and Barbarians it seems the conversions and adding of parts { metal to plastic } a very unique 54mm Army is possible.
Yup, talked myself into it.

FUB

Thanks Dan, Barbarians are a hoot to paint. No 2 need be the same.
Started a couple gladiators for SPARTACUS army. Will post pix tonite.

Lots of Gladiator,Roman, Barbarian parts, heads, weapons shields ect to mix onto plastics and metals I make. Another project is all I need but it should be fun!

Nice..... dont forget the burning logs to roll down the hill into the Roman front Ranks.:D
I take it you will use your Alpha Romans for that one....
Im hoping for some Celts in your Blackcat line..The italeri Celts/Gauls are about the best on the maket so far.. with Hat being just ok.
My mind is on the Gaul invasion of 220 BC
Ragnar.

I'll see what I can manage.Poor discipline and lack of focus keeps me scattered.
I'd agree that Italeri are very nice, Hats are okay.I'll try some new figs this winter.
I did see that Hat Punic wars Numidian and Italian Allied cavalry are out and available this weekend at the big show in Chicago.
I'm going to look into a copy of Warhammer Ancient Battles Spartacus for inspiration.

Didnt find the new HAT 1/32 plastics but not like I dont have lots of stuf to work on .Heres some pix of Spartacus " trained" gladiatorial heavy infantry ready to get primered and painted. Italeri, Pegasus plastics and some of my own Blackcat metals, nuting fancy. just some parts switched around between all the figs.
Should be fun to paint. Shouldnt have put the rectangled curved Scutum on them but too late now.
Finding " rabble" or " singer of songs" untrained slave army figures might be more of a challenge but we'll see whats out there. They would be the vast majority of a slave army so thats going to be a bit of a challenge.

FUB

Please yes email...:) just could not get my head around the darn things .
A nice mix of figures there did you ever get any of the Conte Slave sets ?

Toeing the line at home and around the acres wild but i have painted a little in the evenings.
Spartacus escaped Gladiators out on the rampage.spartacus2.jpg

fun to switch parts between all the kits , metal and plastic .Pegasus, Italeri and Blackcat figs.
Ragnar, I'll send out the painting tips PDQ.

Fubar,

These look the part alright, it's difficult to tell which are plastic, metal or hybrid.

Regards

Jeff

Heres a couple more with some celts. germans and even a few Samnites .
Screaming their vengence they fall on the hated Romans to chop them into bite sized chunks, take all useable weapons and armor, and leave nothing but a greasy spot.sparthorde2.jpg whcih is what the Romans deserve.

sparthorde.jpg

I don't know why I didnt think of these before since I have MOLDS for Gladiators for Petes sake. It is proving to be a shot in the arm as far as FUN project. Was in a slump.;)
