I loved this figures as soon as I saw him, and thats going to me breakawy from Napoleonics into buying ready painted figures of the 7 Years War.

This image and other discussions have already been posted on other threads since the figure first was shown in November.... so bring it on, and his comrades....

This first view of a Prussian Grenadier looks very promising.

Did you know this bit of totally unknown history? At the Battle of Monongahela, Braddock had a full platoon of volunteer Prussian Grenadiers in his column. Because they were wiped out to the man in a bayonet charge of the overloking hill, there were no surviving Prussians left to tell their story.

Fraxinus - are you serious about that? It's not like I was not going to buy into this range, but this gives me even more of a reason. I got to hold this figure, John had to pry it out of my hands to get it back. :redface2:

I do so want these figures. This figure is great and I am looking forward to the other ones to come. I think there are 20 or so poses coming out. All based off the painting of the Prussian attack on the church held by the Austrians. So you know he will be doing Austrians as well.

If we could just find a really great picture of some Russian attack to send to John and get his ideas flowing I think we could have some Russians too. And we want Artillery and Cavalry for all.

No, No. I told an untruth. I have been guility of similar transactions before, so as a warning to those reading, I include language like "totally unknown history" = my fibbing. My apologies, Matt. No prussians at BoM.

Why would I do this? Besides allowing my imagination to work, it provides me with a justification for starting a new collection line.

"Look, Honey. I promise to only collect figures for the French and Indian War. It won't be many, as it was a tiny, tiny war. If I can't use it in the FIW, you have my permission to toss them in the garbage. And yes, I love you more than my toy soldiers."

No - it just shows how gullible I am. :redface2:{eek3}:smile2: And how I too need to be able to tell the wife it's only for FIW. Problem is she is more aware of that history than I am. So now I tell her that I just need my Jenkins fix and I'll be okay.

I don't collect Culloden but she's all into that battle and era so I think I could convince her that I need the Dragoons to display. For her. And then when I want to do some gaming with my figures, they will just find their way onto the table. And I mix all the FIW sets together when I get them all out. I don't own snow shoe sets due to them not mixing as well.

This new Prussian figure is really cool! His detail & stance really pops & reminds me of a classic toy soldier of times past. Can't wait to see him in person & what other related figures John has in store for this 7 Years War period. It should be a great series! I really don't know much of this war but this figures really has bitten me bad.

I now have this image as my screen saver until we see another full image of this series. Hope it arrives soon.

I was honored and very flattered to receive one of these figures from John himself, who is a real gent, at the East Coast Show. I had promised to get some pictures up for Konrad (kogu) but you've beat me to it. But I hope you don't mind if I add these shots of the grenadier (apologies, there's a little glare to my lighting):

The first subject for the series is the Battle of Leuthen, and these figures will be part of a scene depicting Frederick's Garde storming the walled churchyard in Leuthen village itself. I'm very excited by this and Frontline's new SYW series, so much so that I'll be making a foray into collecting finished, matte figures. John's British dragoons from the Culloden series also intrigue me. Though I'm not too much interested in the '45, I'm looking forward to picking up the dragoons, because they'll fit right into Seven Years War displays, since the uniforms were virtually unchanged.

It's a great time for us fans of the Seven Years War, to be sure!
