This next set of re-paints for Bernard will be the 7th Dragoon Guards. The three Troopers are from Britains set # 1631 Canadian Governors Horse Guard, and the Standard Bearer is from Britains # 2067 Sovereign Escort. As you can see the Standard Bearer will benefit the most from a makeover

I am not so sure that standard bearer is from the sovereigns escort set. The horse is wrong and he should be on a black horse, also the lifeguards didn't have a yellow on their trousers and a two coloured plume.

Scott,

I'm just passing on the info from Bernard. It's in a sad state whatever it is and will benefit from a new coat of gloss that's for sure.

Thanks

Jeff

Yo Scott, its been changed around, the Trooper is a 5th Dragoon, looks like they changed the arm with the Standard from the escort set, glad your paying attention to detail, make a Hussar out of you yet lol.
Bernard.

Thanks for the info Bernard...It did have me stumped !!! The standard bearers are not easy to come by and I though it may have been one of the picture pack issues. Now I know it's not rare, paint away Jeff :D

This is what I like about this forum - the wealth of knowledge of all things Toy Soldier. Me? I’ll repaint anything – Old, Rare or Hybrid..Ha Ha!!:p:D:D

Jeff

The carbine will also have to be removed. Standards were carried by senior NCOs who did not have carbines.

Well I am not very knowledgable or very rarely right but it looks like I was this time :D

You know, the pictures really show what good castings Britain had. You can see that, if you look closely now, through the paint. I'm sure Jeff will have a shot of the figures when he's cleaned them. I think they make a great canvas for anyone who wants to add more detail than the toy soldier standard expected.

Prost!

Angle Grinder time! :eek::eek::D:D

I would imagine that it would be more trouble than it's worth to try and remove this due to the hollow cast design????

Bernard is acquiring a suitable replacement as we speak. So the painting of this set will be on hold until I receive the new figure.

You could probably snip off the bottom of the carbine and then with a lick of black paint the rest probably wouldn't be noticable.

Are you going to put the flag arm on the new figure Jeff ???

Scott,

Just a touch up paint wise to convert into the 7th (as Bernards instructions ;)). The tatty Standard Bearer will probably go into the melting pot :p:rolleyes::D

Jeff

Bernard bought a figure with a dreaded plate, what happened to his extremely vocal aversion to plates ?

Yo Trooper, do I have to put you on a charge again lol. No plates only when four hoofs are on the deck. This type of rearing horse is quite special, and in a few of the Old Britains sets I have ie: the Life Guards etc.

Yo Scott Jeff is a right wind up "Melting Pot" What. When Jeff has finished the 7th Dragoons, he is going to turn the Standard Bearer into a superb Horse Guard Standard Bearer it should look special, unless he gets his distemper brush & green paint out again. :p
Bernard.

The Officer arrived today and I wasn't aware that it was a New figure made by Britains. The box is quite nice as well.

Britains released a small range of Hollowcast in 2000. They were advertising them as sets/figures that had never been made before, to compliment collectors exsisting original hollowcast figures.

I have the 9th Lancers Mounted Band, HMQ on Burmese and Scots Grey in winter cloak. They are really nice figures. :)

Yo Jeff, sorry mate forgot to mention it was new. But its a nice piece love the officers mounts when they have Shabraques on, should do all Cavalry officers from this period like this.
Bernard. :D

Hi Bernard,

The painting on this is very neat and tidy :)
