Changing fortunes on the Eastern Front Winter 1941 - 1942

Trying to work out whether he is going for cover or trying to fix the truck. In any case those flames look like they may sort this situation out one way or another shortly. Excellent scene as always with your diorama's, straight out of book photo. ^&cool, Robin.

I don't know what he was up to ....Maybe we will find out soon !

My guess something to do with a FL STUG......................:wink2:

He might be a bit bogged as well! In any event, with those flames rearing up behind him I wouldn't be hanging around that truck very long!!

Very good Alex, another detailed and classic scene from you.

Is he shot ? did he loose something? is he trying to fix a mechanical failure ? is he praying ? so many questions . One thing is sure ,with the fire raging in the back of his truck and all these ammo crates I would be out of there .Well set up scene Alex as always !!!!!

OK .....So I found out what happened...... The Russians hit them, with the Stug in the lead, the Stug went out of control and slid into the embankment losing a few bogies. The truck driver swerved trying to avoid the Stug and slid into a ditch.

The flames were from the initial strike and as you can see, are not a problem. The driver and crew member are checking how bad they are stuck and seeing what they can do to get up and running again.

The Stug Commander thinks he knows where the strike came from. He was on the radio to other units to protect them while they are vunerable.

Superb, Alex! You can feel the cold and smell the smoke... Regards. Colman

The crash site, the debris, the leaves, the placement and interaction of the figures and vehicles, the storyline and the pictures all come together in perfect harmony.

Better check the FL forum for an update on this action.

Too good Alex, mystery solved. Like the way you can extend the diorama, blending into the scene. You get the feeling if you panned back the scene would just get bigger and go on forever. Your talents are amazing.^&cool, Robin.

Firebat, you are one of the best dio builders.....Just a detail: if I were you I ' d change the "SS" of the plate into "runes" {sm3}

Done and I can't wait for more!

The story of the development of this scene.....

When I opened the Stug box two bogies were broken off ( No problem an easy repair ) so I said how can I capitalize on this. Also we are doing a lot of studies on size and proportion on the Battleground Art forum, so I wanted to show the relationship between different manufacturers products. In this case FL and TGM.

To me, it is actually interesting and important to know the back-story behind these types of dios.

The backstory here is as stated on the opening post........

The Germans launched Operation Barbarossa ( The invasion of Russia ) in June 1941 and in the beginning things looked good for them as usual, then as the winter set in and the Russians got a handle on the situation, the German war machine started having a lot of "BAD DAYS"

I meant to say that the development of the story (ie the damaged tank that arrived) always interests me. But this helps too.

:)
