Every year or two I try and teach myself to post photos. Here is my latest practice, can anyone tell which famous war hero has been reproduced in plastic?000_2479.jpg

I think there are three episodes that touch on Abe 'Grandpa' Simpson's time in the ETO. The one where he and Mr Burns are the sole survivors of a Tontine and square off to claim the art they looted in Germany in 1945 was the most extensive - and funniest! Another saw him in drag serenading Hitler and the other had the whole family go to England, where amongst other things they met Homer's older half-sister from Abe's wartime fling. Not to be confused with the older half-brother ('Unkie Herb', voiced by Danny DeVito) produced by his fling with the carnival worker. He was quite the potent man in his time!

My 3yo came in while I was taking some photos of some tanks. He picked the BMC King Tiger up by the barrell and asked what's this? A cannon, I replied. 'What's it do?' Conscious of his age and the wife's reticience about war toys I thought a moment and went with, it's a 'water' cannon! His eyes lit up and he raced out to return with his Fireman Sam toys and we proceeded to have a big 'water' fight between the fireman and the army men. Wonderful!000_2481.jpg

And this may be the only time ever you will see these two together! For those who don't have any little kids in their houses at the moment, this is Fireman Sam. He is from Wales and is quite the hero to small boys!000_2503.jpg

Good to see that in Fireman Sam the boy can find an appropriate male role model{sm4}

Sam also spends more time with him than a certain God-father....

Perhaps the Godfather does not want to show up the boy's father by being too manly and making the contrast obvious?

Maybe, but like Santa, he's not sure that you're even real. Perhaps when he gets your present he'll regain his faith in Christmas......

I once knew a man who gave his wife of three months a pamphlet for Christmas - not a voucher but a pamphlet advertising a voucher. I suspect that the child of such a man might set the bar very low when it comes to gifts.

What a fortunate woman! A pamphlet can lead to many interesting opportunities.

As it turns out, my son has made the following suggestions -

Anything Fireman Sam by King & Country

Any two of those new 'P' mounted Crusaders, also by K & C

The Collectors Showcase elephant, with the 'officer' crew set.

The Nile boat.

You can give them to me, I'll pass them on......

You might as well ... You have already passed on your lack of co-ordination and depth perception issues.

This is good, just like a game of tennis...next serve please. {sm3}:wink2:
