Very good Marty, oops Jack and what's the deal with the native about to clobber the poor lady??

Tom

Now that is a clever idea Jack.

Have mentioned this before but probably 4 years ago so here goes. As mentioned by Jack original painting is owned by NSW Art Gallery. I saw it there in 2000 and it looked out of place amongst other portrait and scenery type subjects.

Painting was done 3 years after the battle. I sought out a Curator to ask about it and story was in 1800's Australian Galleries had buyers in UK and one happened to buy this one. So Jacks ladies would be accurate.

After painting had gone to Australia the Regiment commissioned another painting which is almost exactly the same. The image of the 2nd version has been on front cover of an Osprey book but all prints published seem to be from the NSW painting.

Would love to know what it would be worth at a serious auction. Would have to be most well known military image.

He is employed to make sure only positive comments are made by patrons about the painting. Out of the box thinking here for this dio, well done. Robin.

Nice one Jack

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments.

I was actually looking at a Collector's Showcase Jagpanther and a King and Country King Tiger yesterday as a potential first WW2 armour purchase. I was going to put the one I purchased in a museum display dio but I thought too hard about whether to start another line and ... well, he who hesitates is lost.

I really liked that CS Jagpanther and the price was excellent. Perhaps next time!

I believe the lady is questioning the authenticity of some point or another about the painting. The native is saying, "Authenticity? I'll show you authenticity!". :rolleyes2: -- Al

I believe that the question of authenticity was the second last thing to go through her mind!

Your best work to date.....and I should have known one who owns a red velvet jacket has some imagination......{sm4}^&grin
Wayne.

I hope the warrior is actually a "wax work" display.

Maybe put a "do not touch" sign nearby and make "Lady Chatterly" about to touch the painting.
