That is one hell of an idea!.......move all your clothes out of the wardrobe and convert it into a display cabinet! :D

A very nice collection of JJD figures you have there. :)

Jeff

Great Display case and collection. Thanks for the great pictues.

Thanks guys.

Jeff the case is 3 wide Ikea Billy bookcase, not deep enough for a wardrobe.

These are exactly the kinds of cases were considered when we settled on 11" X 28" for our shelf dioramas. It seems like this depth and width is almost universal these days.
I really like the glass door additions to the basic unit.
Ken

Thanks Jeff.

I do use the cupboards on top for box storage, but I've got 388 sets so boxes other than in these cupboards are in every crack that a box will fit in the house out of site.

Thanks Ken.

What I liked about these units is the optional doors, that there is a curved cut out in the back made so that they can be put flush against the wall, missing the baseboard and the extension units for the top that kind of makes it look built in. I've got your ARW, ACW, NAP and Zulu in these cabinets.

I just noticed that I left a figure in the wrong war...

I have a different style book case from these folks that although I like very much, does not have the glass door option. I really have to go take a look at these!

Firstly, this is a very nice set up you have. It appears to be a lot fuller than the last time we saw photos of it.

These are the cabinets I am planning to get once the budget allows. Price point is great, good finish choices, agree about the doors, and wholeheartedly agree about the baseboard cut-outs.....brilliant touch!

And to your last point, yes, he looks a little confused and all.

Cheers,
MD

Thanks MD.

That's the young George Washington which is going to be needed back at Monongahela.

I don't have any of my POA displayed yet. I'll take a Snowshoe photo when I get the 2nd released Whaleboat while taking a photo of it as well.

If you decide your going to need some additonal lighting for these, Ikea makes a fixture called INREDA with a telescopic movable arm that can be mounted on the top edge of each cabinet. Each fixture has a 20W halogen bulb that puts out an incredible amount of very white light.

The top of my cabinets come within a couple of inches from the ceiling, so lights have be mounted on the cupboards before put in place - if cupboards are used - otherwise there is not enough room up there to work.

Here are a couple more older photos - no standing room on these shelves anymore - that give you an idea of how much room is on a shelf.

With the nearest Ikea about 30 miles from here, I've been to the "Billy" section a few times to stand and admire the options including those light fixtures you've mentioned. I think I'll probably use those as well.

Can't wait to see more photos of your collection as you get them posted.

Cheers,
MD

Donnie,

Great great displays-I really like them especially the Rebs and Yanks scrap-as of course you would expect:D

lenswerks,
Inspirational display, to put it lightly. I'd bet IKEA is currently getting some much needed traffic to their website! Your room looks phenom!
Mike

lens, You take some excellent closeups! What kind of camera and setting did you use?
