Hi!

This is my first post, though I have watched this forum for some time. I appreciate the news, knowledge and passion you all bring to this forum, and are often inspired by your work.

I collect specifically to wargame, and the aesthetic of the game experience is paramount. If interested, you can see more at http://cluckamok.blogspot.com/

Constructive criticism is always welcome :)

What a colourful way to start into the forum, lets hope there is more to follow. Nice to have you aboard. Cheers, Robin.

Just superb - bringing many facets of the hobby together; and it's a great way to interact with children and grandchildren; and wargaming has always been educational - history, mathematics, graphics and even IT, etc. Well done.

Welcome Chuck. Always nice to have another war gamer here. I think this makes five of us. Two in the UK and three here in the USA.

Nice set up on he blog. Looks like it was a fun game.

Matthew

Welcome Chuck,Always nice to see another FIW fan here.

welcome Cluck on board from Italy, I'm not a war gamer but a big FIW fan too!

Welcome to thye Forum!

The John Jenkins Indians have to be some of the "BEST" sets available. Nice setup and display.
Hope to see more of your work.

Some of the indians I can't identify. For example the one holidng the hat and the one calling (with blue / white head)

What Wargame do you use the JJD Indians in? -- Larry

Hi All,

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words. Not sure how prolific I'll be - I am a "legendarily slow" painter and have several periods/projects ongoing, but I will give a shout here when the F&IW project gets updated.

Larry - I recommend "This Very Ground" from Iron Ivan Games for small unit actions. I am playing around with "Long Rifle" from 2-hour Wargames (http://2hourblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/chapter-7-thomas-and-war-party-long.html) for true man-to-man skirmish scale.

Matthew - When I first stated contemplating JJD models for gaming I thought I must surely be the only crazy with this idea. Then I found this forum. . .

Major Duncan (and Uncas) - Have seen your site already and I am jealous of the sheer number of troops you're fielding!

Thanks again,
Chris

I've been using TVG for some time but I'm quite excited about a new rule set for skirmishing FIW due to be released any time soon. A review of the rules from Mike Hobbs is here on his blog.....

mikehobbs.co.uk/?p=2386

Acoording to Mike they are a skirmish set of rules set in North America during the latter part of the 18th Century and were written by Alex Buchel who wrote Saga. They were written before Saga and have been available in French for a while but this will be the first English release of them

......love the pictures!

I am looking forward to the new rules as well. I have not played SAGA. What I want out of the rules I. Play is a campaign system that allows me to follow a group of units as they fight over a given number of years.

Chuck - I took all my Jenkins figures and ran Braddock's Defeat at one of the larger conventions in 2009. No one wanted to play. Lots of folks crowded around to see the set up and take pictures, but they thought I was crazy for letting random people play with them. I ran three games back to back. Lots of fun.

I don't take them to shows any more, but that is due to packing them all up for travel. It is really time consuming. I still play lots of games at the house.

EVzone, yes me too, I am looking forward to them, being released in the UK at Salute this weekend!
might you be there? Adam and I will be, and also David from TM Terrain, with one of his awesome boards! Can't wait.

Evzone - thanks for the link to the review of Muskets and Tomahawks. I didn't realize they were close to a release date.

Matthew - It is a lot of work carting around the figures and terrain, though I really felt appreciated at Recruits. FYI - the 2 Hour Wargames rules all have good campaign systems built in. They're marketed as "immersion" games. Not everyone loves the "reaction system" that the rules are built around, but it does make for some unique gaming.

Bests,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I just got both of the 2 hour wargame rules for my birthday a few months past. They look interesting, though I am having trouble grasping some of the ideas. I'm sure once I get a chance to play them, things will be clearer.

Have you ever played All The Kings Men (ATKM) - free set of 54mm rules. you can get them from their web site.

They are a fun set of rules to play.

Matthew

I am looking forward to Tomahawks and Muskets also.
I do the FIW in 28mm. I am tempted to go 40mm, but am sticking with 28mm for now.

Walt

Chris, please show us your repaints when you can, always good to see how we can get more Indians!

Sure thing. I'll try to get some photos taken and posted this weekend. I am repainting a set each of the original Canadians (FM-03 and FM-04) and I'll include those if I finish in time. :)

Bests,
Chris

Thanks for the link to the rules, Matthew - I had not seen them before. The 2 Hour Wargames product is definitely an acquired taste, and have to be played to be fully appreciated.

Who has 40mm FIW besides Sash & Saber?
