If you check the second post, I guessed that and has wrong… my first thought was Stalingrad, and I still think it has to be a Russian- though it could be Chinese as well…

I am still trying to find the answer to this challenging quiz question. Perhaps, the General is not Russian.....Czech ??

Vasily Ivanovich Chuikov (Vassili Ivanovitch Tchouïkov) appears to be a good answer, but it is not correct. He was the senior Russian officer in command of the Defence of Stalingrad in WWII. Also, he was the only Marshal of the Soviet Union to be buried outside of Moscow ie: not in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis. He is buried at the Mamayev Kurgan.

The sniper Vasily Zaytsev is also buried there but his highest rank was captain.

In WWI, he served in a Tsarist Russian cavalry regiment.

He was buried in the Polish War Cemetery in Monte Cassino.
