Sorry dude but this is sort of payback for 1988. I attended game 4, one of the worst nights in my life. Couldn't sleep the whole night. I know you guys are hurting and sorry for that. As baseball fans, we lose more than we win. I'm sure your guys will have their turn soon. At least we can revel in the Yankees' fans agony and I sort of feel for them (but not too much). It's a Mets town tonight.

Thank you Detroit for giving the EVIL EMPIRE a good old fashioned butt kickin'. How's that pin stripped uniform working out for you now Johnny DEMON?:D :D :D A-rod, who's A-rod, was he playing in this series, I didn't notice!:p

Well, I didn't going to bed until about 2 am, celebrating and watching post game celebrations and I'm a little giddy today, really enjoying this because with their starting pitching I don't know if there will be another one this year.

Apparently, Torre will be fired and Steinbrenner is about as mad as he's ever been. I'd like to revel in the agony of the Yankee fan today but I've been on the losing disappointed side too many times (that is the lot of a baseball fan) to take too much pleasure in it. But A Rod, Sheffield, Mussina, Liddle, etc. will be gone for sure.

I'm hoping the Cards make it in because they can't match up hitting wise with the Mets, their bullpen is not that strong and neither is their starting pitching. As a matter of fact, I don't think any team can match the Mets hitting. Contrary to conventional wisdom that pitching wins championships, they may have to slug their way to the title.

I would like to see Detroit Tigers and Mets in world series. I awoke at 0430 thinking the Yankees were crossing home plate time after time. Could not go back to sleep so went and got coffee and Sundays papers. Almost bought a NY Times but for five bucks I got three other papers instead. Wonder if Steinbrenner is making a TV commercial like he did against Cleveland braging about his Yankees. A group of young Tigers and one old pitcher (Kenny Rogers) did them in. Maybe Steinbrenner will hire George Castanza to coach next year. I was worried about A-Rod, Jeter, Damon and the others till I saw their rejected looks. Leadmen

You guys were great. I don't think anybody (even the Tigers would admit this) expected the Tigers to beat the Yanks. I don't think anyone can understand why they lost but the Tigers took it to 'em so congrats. A Tigers Mets series would be great. Let's keep our fingers crossed. There's a long way to go.

Baseball.....mmm.....baseball...
yes, I think I've heard of it. A game where a bunch of guys hit a spherical object with a big stick? :D

I'm a Met fan since I can remember, but I would have liked a subway series again. I'm afraid Joe Torre's days are numbered, he had a good run. I think Lou Piniella will be the new manager. "A Rod" serious waste of money, he's gone for sure. Just goes to show you don't always get what you pay for :)

LET"S GO METS

Hi Guys,

As a life long Yankees fan I cannot begin to tell you of how deeply disapointed I am. This last few days was a reminder of dismal times past like the 80s. As for who will be here and not I will not speculte with the emotion of the NYC press but I can say that Steinbrenner will slam the team with his wrath and it will be a vastly different team at Spring training. As for the Mets, well I think they can handle the rest of the teams coming their way but the Tigers, well thats another story. I am fairly confident the A's can whip them soundly but then again I was confident the Yankees could do the same so its anyones game right now. Such is the life of a baseball fan right.

Take care guys

Dave

Brad, I believe your team is called "pond scum" am I correct.
Remember the Cardinals and Mets rivalry in the 80,s?
Don,t count the Cardinals out, we have Albert, the best hitter in baseball, he could win the series by himself.
Is Casey Stengal still managing the Mets with Ed Kranepool on furst, I can,t remember.
Gary

If we're going to talk baseball, it's time for a shameless prediction.

The 2007 Milwaukee Brewers will win the World .... um ...

The 2007 Milwaukee Brewers will be the National League ... um ...

The 2007 Milwaukee Brewers will win the National League Central ... probably not ...

The 2007 Milwaukee Brewers will finish with a winning ... no ...

The 2007 Milwaukee Brewers will play baseball in 2007.

That's the best prediction I can come up with for my favorite team.

I became a fan in 1981 when they were in the World Series. It's been all downhill from there ...

Gary,

No offense but apart from Albert, what do you have? Unless the Mets have no choice, in a big spot, with men in scoring position, they won't let Albert beat them. If we go position, what do you have:

Catcher - Mets
First Base - Cardinals (but not by much)
Second Base - Even
Shortstop - Mets (not even a contest here)
Third Base - Mets
Left Field - Cards
Center Field - Mets
Right Field - Mets

Starting Pitching - Probably even. However, Mets will probably be able to star Glavine three times whereas because you're using Carpenter today, he will be probably only start twice.

Bullpen - Mets have the best and the deepest pen in the NL.

There's a reason the Mets are the best team in the NL. You want to call in NY arrogance, so be it. We are the best team in the NL. The x factor is the Mets starting pitching. It's seriously weakened because of the loss of Pedro and El Duque. But for that it would be a shoo in. Mets in 6 but I'm hoping for 5.

Sorry, Gary, it just doesn't stack up for you guys, assuming you get in.

Gary, you'll know by next week who's managing this team. BTW, it's spelled first :)

I am also a life long Yankee fan and I cannot add anything more to the above statement. Thank goodness for the Jets, ...um...maybe the Knicks...ah...LETS GO RANGERS.........Michael

The Rangers will be a real good team this year. I am a fan since I follow hockey wich means here in Canada as long as we can remember.

They broke my heart in the beginning of the 70's, years after years (can't forget that losses against Chicago and Philadelphia) and 1986 (game three in overtime, what a shame!) and, finally, after all those years, the 1994 Stanley Cup. The curse was over!

But no Cup this year, I'm afraid. My prediction Edmonton (even if they loose Pronger).

Pierre.

I am also a Knicks and Rangers fan. Unfortunately, I have no idea when the Knicks will be a good team, let alone have a winning team. Rangers should be very good. The Olympics break really hurt them last year.

Considering the state of the Mets starting pitching, if they get to the WS it will have been a successful season. Since Pedro is lost until at least the All Star break, they will need to add a quality starting pitcher. I'm pretty confident they will be able to do that.

Brad, gotta give you the Rangers over the Blues, but we did get some NewYork people to run the hockey team.
Gary

Gary,

There's only one sport I'm passionate about and that's baseball. Don't follow hockey too much although I do root for the Rangers and root for both football teams. I haven't followed football too much yet what with the Mets. How are the Rams doing?
