American Marines help recover a British Challenger in a hot area.

Buildings are by Hobby Bunker which I painted and weathered.

I made a Tank Recovery Truck from a commercial truck I got from Ronnie at Crossroads Diecast. The Truck was modified painted and weathered. All of the FOV vehicles were weathered

The Figures are Figarti Miniatures

One of Nicks buildings in the backround

The time and effort you put into creating the Dio paid off quite nicely and the proof of it is in the photo. Wish I knew how to add the special effects in really makes the Dio stand out. Nicely done Firebat and looking forward to seeing more photos of what you've done..........The Lt.

Just get any photo enhancement program. They are very complicated, but as you read the directions and play around, you develop a style, and start to master some of the procedures. Also composition and various lighting setups create different moods. The most rewarding part of this one was the painting of the buildings and the weathering. I got to use some of my old modeling skills. I also built the Apache. The Tank Recovery Truck was also a fun project. Alex

Absolutely exceptional! Really brings the scene to life. Love the tank transporter. Awesome!

Great weathering job on the truck, but I did wonder how they got that tank on it ;)

Oz......... Either a heavy recovery tank with a Crane, or the front Goose neck of the Lowboy trailer disconnects and the platform drops to the ground. The Tank is driven or pulled on by a recovery Tank, the trailer is then hydraulically jacked up and reconnected to front Goose neck.

Here is the answers to some e-mails

Yes our dioramas are real, below is the current Diorama with no effects
and here is a full pic of the recovery vehicle as requested. Alex

I thought they may have hired the HULK for that tight fit :) It looks great anyway.

Alex, I like those camels, what make are they?

Firbat,

Nice job. Where did you get the truck and rig for the tank? Great job weathering too.

Thanks Carlos I know you are a FOV fan from way back. The Truck is from New Ray, Ronnie From Crossroads Diecast ordered it for me, when I got the idea for the conversion. I spray painted it Olive Drab and did the camo and weathering with artist acrylics. I added some details like jerry cans, chains, tarps etc. I am going to do more work on it, when I get some time. I am working on a wrecker also. You can't see it too well but the Amtrack is heavily weathered also. Alex

IT IS BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get asked that question a lot. I usually have about 3 or 4 Dioramas in production at any given time, so a particular phase of construction does not get to tedious. In this one The Hobby Bunker buildings had to be painted and weathered, the Tank Transporter was painted and converted from a conventional truck and then weathered along with the other vehicles.

The Apache Helicopter seen in the earlier pics, had to be built, painted and weathered. My partner Nick scratch built the background building in the earlier pic, then you have terrain construction, and figure and vehicle placement, besides the hours spent conceiving the idea and research.

Then there is the lighting set up, photography and computer enhancement. To answer your question. I really don't know. I saw your diorama it has a very unique texture to it. Having knowledge of Dioramas and knowing how long it took to do yours, and given the description I gave of mine, you know, however long it takes, it is a lot of work. You have to love this stuff to make it happen. I just took a count, I have been doing this for a year, and I have done 38 Dioramas. Alex
